Announcement   Announcement : Amiga Games (and our childhood memories) acquired for $500,000
posted by Naz on 8-Jul-2013 14:54:54 (7338 reads)
Amiga Games Incorporated, and its library of over 300 titles, have been purchased for $500,000 by Writers' Group, a company that acquires and distributes digital content. The new owner is promising several announcements over the next few weeks, and hopefully one of them has to do with Overdrive.

The article mentions Wings included in the bundle, but that seems inaccurate unless they bought the library of these folks as well?

More interesting article given that some "chapters" were added, like....
"What about Amiga, Inc.?" and "Why the confusion?"

L.A. company picks up Amiga Games Inc. for $500,000

Anyone every heard of this AGI that was bought out? Hope Writer's Group closely checked all those distributor licenses before signing over that $500K.

The "story" has now gathered more attention from "journalists".

I'm laughing too hard to post all the links and statements really, so I'll just have to give you the best way to find this stuff and let you carry on.

news search for Amiga Games

or

News search for writer's group film corp

gut still splitting with laughter as I sign off...

As mentioned in another thread, the Domain AmigaGamesInc.com is registered under William McEwan, is Bill McEwan still with AmigaInc?

The Company AmigaGamesInc was only incorperated in June 2013.

My example I mention was about Vulcan Software, they made a partnership to allow distribution of there games via AmigaInc shop under-emulation for the PC, the AmigaInc Shop disappeared. Then AmigaInc announced the same games are to be released on Blackberry Appstore via again emulation.

$500.000 is alot of money just for distribution, I seem to think the Writers Group think they have IP rights too, which in many cases are impossible.

@TheAMIgaOne

I see references in the reports of "vague" when questions were put forth to either party.

Intersting to read commentary on Amiga news from non-Amiga-centric forums.

Clearly the brand still has marketability, however the commens relating to screen size, joystick use (or adaptation) and use of emulation instead are all very valid.

Big lol regarding the confusion over what has actually been bought, let alone whether any of the 'rights' are exclusive.
