Introducing the A.L.I.C.E. Laptop
A Laptop Incorporating a Classic Experience

Sacramento 17th October 2015
A-EON Technology is pleased unveil the A.L.I.C.E. prototype at AmiWest 2015. A.L.I.C.E. is an x86 laptop that boots straight into the AmiKit Classic Amiga environment.

A.L.I.C.E. utilizes ordinary PC Laptop hardware to achieve extraordinary results. A truly immersive "Classic" experience has been created in a modern portable package by leveraging commodity hardware and existing emulation solutions. The core of A.L.I.C.E. is Amiga Forever and the freely available AmiKit software environment running on top of Linux. The Linux environment is completely hidden, but easily accessed if desired.

Nice...now we only need a way to remove 128MB ram limit on PowerPc emu and a better gfx card to have a fully portable(and usable) AmigaOS4

Sorry, I have red it, but don't understand.

Don't seem to be more elegant to start and use a windows program from Workbench, than start WinUAE from windows.

It would be nice if the requirement for a PowerUP ROM was removed so that OS4 could be run out of the box too.

Lots of complains about slow OS4 hardware, and it would be "nice" to emulate it even slower on x86? Ehh...

What next a C64 laptop all this retro stuff is cool but I would prefer more man power put towards OS4 on new hardware. Then we can have ALICE on top of OS4 "dream mode off lol" keep up the good every one.

The ALICE team lineup is impressive for sure!

That said; any chance of a youtube/video demostrating the hardware/software in action?

I don't see a finger pad or whatever, I suppose you have to lug around a mouse.

I've never seen a laptop without a pad. The one you're looking for is under the cat.

There is one that has no separate buttons on it. Quite common this time on almost every laptop while apple started it. Most of it IMHO is a crap especially when you need a right click.

What is the MAX RAM that will be accessible by any of the flavours of Workbench that run on A.L.I.C.E?

I havent rewatched the speech in a while, but didnt Michael Battilana mention that they where working with Toni to improve PPC emulation and lift some of the limitations? (RAM being one of them?)

Well, just repeating what he said during the speech.

There have been very little information beyond this press release, so what he meant with the comments will just be speculations.
Im just assuming he wouldnt have mentioned things like RAM unless they have plans for it.

Hence, it would be nice with spesific details beyond what was shared in the release.

I HAVE been thinking about getting a new laptop for a good while since my current one is on its last legs. So hardware specs AND the Amikit/WinUAE details would be very intresting to read about/watch.

I love AmiKit, so Im excited about Jan bein on the team for sure :)

Yep, we've seen the PDF but even that says "For more information please visit: www.a-eon.com"

There is no more information on the site.
