Our second $1 AmigaOne auction has begun. This time we have a used Sam440 Flex 800Mhz System. The auction starts at 1$ with free shipping, and will be available for 28 days to bidders within the Continental U.S.A. If you have been waiting to get started with OS4, here is your opportunity.

If it's not bid up too far in a while, I might think about it. I hope there's no last-minute "Sniper" style apps for hostcove.

The last auction price didn't get too high, so I expect this event to be similar.

I don't get this either. The earlier auction was for a new order, which made it somehow acceptable, but this is a used system and why should it be a news item? I don't think we want to see every eBay sell in news now on...

AmigaOne Sam 440? Well, that's a news item for me at least. Had it only been an AmigaOne Pegasos2, then I would even have placed a bid...

Hopefully this will reduce some moot or duplicate responses.
These aren't for sale ads or reserve auctions.

THERE IS NO RESERVE PRICE.
If the high bid is $1, then it goes for $1.

These are gifts to the Amiga community, while also providing product and brand promotion.
An auction is better than a free give-away because it allows for Amiga placement to someone who has real interest and is more likely to use it. If you read the auction, you will also see the new copy of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition included.

Since these auctions are unprecedented events, they constitute "news" on that basis alone, but even if others were doing it, it could still be distinctive enough to qualify.

So I take it the money you get as a result of these auctions will be contributed towards a bounty, or donated to charity, right?

There is no net money from the auctions. I buy the items, then auction them at less than cost.

I do also donate to developers, but please do not "contribute" to the auction because of that reason. I want the price to stay low for people who are just interested in obtaining the system, such as people who can't typically afford full price.

I don't normally identify the donations made by Hostcove, but because of public skepticism, maybe it is better to list some of the recipients over the last few years. There are also others I don't remember right now.

Donations:
Avcodec.library
Amicygnix
Christopher Handley
Davy Wenzel
Huno PPC
OS4 Depot
Viva Amiga

Did not accept donation:
Thomas Wenzel
