Announcement   Announcement : AmiCloud - conditions changes
posted by phoenixkonsole on 25-Feb-2017 17:59:39 (4250 reads)
Hi,

This is just a short update about AmiCloud.

Since I have surpassed the small business men regulations in Germany in 2017 I need to do a monthly VAT information to the bureau of taxes every month.. (yay!)

What does this mean? Basically that 19% of the money now goes to the tax office : )

This means I will raise the price for AmiCloud next month by exactly 19%.

Subscription prices will stay the same. It affects just the "buy once and be happy with the basic storage size" purchases.

Whatever.. now the good news:
The default storage size raises to 5.5GB (+10%)
The Pro Accounts stay at 25GB
Each without traffic limitation for public links.

What is AmiCloud?
AmiCloud is a basic cloud service similar to Dropbox with the difference that there is no traffic limitation for public links.

A basic guide/information can be found here:
AmiCloud Guide PDF

It is made with Hollywood and so available for virtually every OS except Linux 64Bit. (only 32bit in the moment)

www.amicloud.de

Also available here www.ares-shop.de

The long awaited sub-folder support is done and we will roll it out soon.

19% because it is german VAT.
There is no automatic download involved. The whole purchase is handled manually (no digitally and automatic service), german vat is applied.
no automatic download and registration = no mini one stop shop regulation. Even the keyfile is processed manually therefore there is written a 3-4 days delivery. Normally if I am at home it is send within a day.
The good thing is I keep an eye on everything and I can cancel orders if I find suspicious persons before they can use the service : )
The bad thing: it takes longer before someone can use it.

Good question : )
At some point we will release a mobile optimized website. You can than save it to your home menu on your phone as bookmark icon. This would work on IOS and Android.
Of course it would only work if you are online.

Problem is here that I don't use android and the other question is how acceding files is handled from Hollywood. Maybe android is restrictive on that.
All in all I think the web-app way will be less work and we have already too much work.

When.. hmm
Fabio is working on an update for client which adds the subfolder support.
This could be ready in march. I am still blocked with fulfilling pre-orders till mid of march..
Long story short.. Not before April. With testing it should be a work of a month. (Sparetime)

This means I will raise the price for AmiCloud next month by exactly 19%.

For the sake of completeness, this also means that you will now get a refund of 19% on all business expenses (hosting fees, and so on), which you did not with your previous tax status.

Phoenixkonsole, did you ever consider registering the business in a low tax/no tax jurisdiction such as Singapore or UAE (for example)?

Interesting Links to explore for Singapore (where I reside):-

BizFile
https://www.bizfile.gov.sg/
(check out "Explore eServices" on the bizfile page)

Singapore Ministry of Man-Power
http://www.mom.gov.sg/working-in-singapore/starting-a-business

Congratulations on the AmiCloud successes thus far...

Q!

@phoenixkonsole

Even 20€ fee for clients on all systems + unlimited traffic + 5GB Space would be a great deal...

Nevertheless, as long as your businness turnover is low, you can indeed use the "small business men" solution: No need to pay 19% VAT towards the tax department. Therfore you donnot add 19% VAT on your invoice. On the other hand, as stated above, you cannot reduce your tax load AND income load through the "small business men" regulation. Personally I would always prefer the 19% VAT solution. It is NOT much paperwork... I you use a tax software (eg. WISO), it is a matter of minutes, or of changing three figures every month, maybe only every 3 months (depending on turnover).

19% because it is german VAT.

Yes, but that 19% will be calculated based on the increased price, so if you want to still get the same amount after VAT you will have to increase the price by about 23.46%.

German value-added taxes are charged as a percentage of the original tax-free cost. For every 1 EUR, you have to charge 19 cents on top, which equals either 19% of the net cost or 15,67% of the gross cost (net price + taxes).

If the online VAT calculators I found are correct, the Finnish VAT works exactly the same way.

Just for the record.. the AmiCloud services and the App Store are offline until tomorrow evening. Reason are changes to the HTTP requests which have to be applied due to security updates.

As far as I experienced - if you earnings monthly are below 6500€ - your tax is between 0 and 10%. If you earn over 6500€, you pay 19%?

But if you live outside Germany - you can get tax-back by non-residental document you send to their tax office.

This discussion was about value-added taxes that are applied to goods and services sold to end consumers.

I am afraid I have no idea what taxes you might possibly be referring to in your remarks.

Latest Amicloud builds:
http://www.indiego.rocks/file/download/d635dd0292a1f99068a9ad8baba64161

The last client can't connect anymore to the server because of new strict derectives in apache.

Doing that destroys the local economy and the welfare system in the country you live in, so that would be a really dumb (egocentric, narcissistic, greedy, short-sighted) thing to do for any business, especially big ones.
