The future looks bright! I think there will be a big shortage of AmigaOne's when OS4.0 is released at the end of October.

OMG! Is this official? Well at least some of us who may have any doubt can now rest at the thought .

@Bodie

haha, I knew someone would pick up on that. Common sense would suggest that that date is unofficial and a best guess based on inside knowledge. It's encouraging, but remember that its only a BEST GUESS.

February/Mars 2004, at best.

(Edit: And if they can't even make that date, then they really should reconsider their "won't ship until it's perfect" motto IMHO, and start sending out beta (not for betatesting, but for end user usage) versions with regular updates until it reaches what was projected for 4.0. Not releasing anything for the people that has had the hardware for a year or more would go far beyond rediculously idiotic. Well perhaps it already has, but anyway ...)

I feel your frustration and suggest you put this to Ben Hermans.

I recall the original idea was that once OS4 for AmigaOne was in a Beta state that people who had purchased the hardware early on were suppose to get some kind of special access to download the Beta... It may be worth an email to Ben and see if that is still the case.

@Bodie_CI5

Like Jahc said, I would concider this date exactly that, since Hyperion have not given an official release to the public yet. They have indicated that general time frame recently though...

I will say this, judging from the general positive attitude that Russ presents, I've come away from this project feeling re-assured. The idea behind this interview was that nobody seems to know much about how the dealers who are still around keep staying in the market. A big thanks to Russ for his valuable time, knowledge and insight.

Nice interview. Very upbeat.

End of October would be , but I think he may be just hoping like the rest of us.

Let me set this straight. What I believe to be the release date and
when it is released can vary. I am not Hyperion and even if
Ben Hermans gives us an anticipated release date, can be affected by many factors.
Delays such as - bugs discovered at the last minute, how many parts to include in the OS,
Art work, people getting sick,last minute testing, shipping to and from
a cd burning house, how fast they are on turn-a-round, and shipping to your dealers etc...
This can add on months easily. We have done demos of OS4.0 running on
CyberStorm PPC's at Sacramento and New York so it is not vaporware. We have waited many years
and a couple of more months should not kill us.

We understand Russ. I wouldn't even concider it written in stone if Hyperion said that it was hitting the streets at the end of October. It's a nice "target date" though...

Absolutely. I just wish you were closer to us down here in NC. Oh well, it shouldn't be so extremely long before we can at least get the CSPPC version at a meeting.
