Events   Events : Photos from SEAL OS 4 Demo
posted by rhino on 15-Nov-2003 2:14:38 (3365 reads)
Photos from Mick (sicky) Sutton's Amiga OS 4 on AmigaOne demonstration given at South Essex Amiga Link on the 14th of November are now available on the SEAL website.

This demonstration was similar to the one Mick gave at ANT on the 9th but the AmigaOne was booting directly from the hard disk this time. Also there are more and better quality photos.

In addition we have just uploaded a report from the ANT event with details of what was demonstrated and some background information.

It's all available from the SEAL website.

Seeing photogenics running on it is the highlight for me.

Now if we can somehow persuade Paul for a native PPC version.

Same for Imagine, ImageFX etc.

Hopefully some native versions will appear.

However, if my experience with Amithlon is anything to go by, once JIT 68K emulation is available then even the "classic" versions will gain a new lease of life :)

Good selection of pics.

Nice to see SnoopDOS running on OS4 - one of the handiest "serious" system utils IMO. But that got me wondering: how does it fit into the new OS4 library model? Since the jump vector table is only used for 68K programs, can it still snoop PPC programs?

Imagine is in the pipeline. IIRC the SARE (Stand Alone Render Engine) is already PPC. Since its the rendering speed that is the important part, we can hope that Martins work on OS4 has allowed him to gain insight into getting this OS4 ready.
IFX is on my wishlist too. Kermit has stated that as soon as the Dev tools are there, they'll look at possibly porting. No promises though. I suspect that "IF" a MOS port is done, then the work to OS4-enable it, would not be over taxing.
Does IFX work on OS4 now? A thread on the IFX ML explains how to output frames from AVI's via FroggerNG and input them into IFX. This would be a real plus for me. It would be great to know I could do this on an A!/OS4 setup, with a decent speed.
The other program I want to see is the new Candy Factory Pro 2. The original CFP program flies on my WinUAE setup. I'd love to see a PPC version on OS4 soon!

one concern here though , no numbers of visitors was mentioned + it didnt mention if there was an CSPPC showing also? (ie so people could compare etc...)

cheers

No one else has complained about the thumbnails not working and they show fine here (accessing the page across the web of course). Does your browser give any kind of error (perhaps if you try viewing the thumbnail images separately)?

Cheers,

Robert
