With all Opi's sarcasm, at least he doesn't kick AInc when they're down. And yes, that would make him somewhat supreme.

I have not been in AmigaDom for very long but can't see putting anyone down that at least tried. Even if they failed miserably, they at least took the bat to the plate and gave it a go. Whether it be for money only or the live. If no one took the bat, then we would not be at the point we are at today, that Hyperion is about to launch X1000 and carry on the Amiga line past 2010.

I guess we will see in the end but today I am excited for Amiga and it would be sweet if "someone" that really cares about Amiga get the name and try to use it again. I say the same for Atari. Atari is a brand now but just goes no place in big numbers. I wish some gaming company would try to make the first big game maker into a market leader again. Atari is still a cool name as is Amiga.

Maybe someone can form AtarMiga. or AmigAtari. hehehe

New gaming line to blow away Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony. Also, introduce a new home computer line for the common man and bring the Power Without The Price Atari did and the awesome technology that Amiga had. Together, they could kick butt.

I know, I am dreaming.

Well, it seems he gets his kicks out of spitting on the people here (at least in that comment). Does that make him a better person, than those who got disappointed by Amiga Inc, and are happy they are gone now?

I agree that the crowd here and on other Amiga-related boards could react a tad less emotionally traumatized to events happening around their OSes, but I think his last comment was a little bit over the top arrogant. I usually enjoy reading Opis sarcastic comments, as long as he doesn't get too one-sided, but that one was unnecessary in the extreme.

If I had that kind of view about people on a board, I'd simply stop visiting that place.

Sorry for trying to be reasonable. I would be last person to "defend" Amiga, Inc. Their faults are undeniable. Yet I feel that it's somehow ironic that people shift positions like that. There was lots of people who said AI is poorly managed and will never deliver anything. They where called trolls. Banned. People said that there's no PowerVixxen. They where called trolls. Banned. People looked funny at Amy'05 (man, it's five years already?) and they where called trolls, also.

Maybe if people who now hangs around corpse of AI, kicking it and calling it names would act before we got shafted we wouldn't be where we are. Maybe this community needs more skepticism not less? Even if I'm not in a market for X1000 (I wish I had +$1000 to spare) am I not able to ask question about XMOS access to system memory?

This "if you're not with us, you're against us" stance did more damage than good for our, already divided, community. AI was once "one of us", hence any questioning was consider to be rough act against "leaders of community", now, after Hyperion went into court against AI, this company was excommunicated and now you can freely post your favorite "Snowman" joke.

If you think that's noble, funny or insightful, please continue. And let me state my opinion. I'm as entitled to it as you're to yours.

Maybe (plus my limited command of English) it was a bit harsh, maybe I'm just going bitter. You know, I get this feeling reading this thread. I think: "Why? Why didn't you question this and that when it was important? Why are you so happy when anything popsup and so hateful post factum? Why can't we have a sane middle ground?"

Sometimes I try to not post anything. I know that I'm rather hard on Amiga scene(you could call it tough love ) and I know I would just add oil to fire. This one I couldn't just pass. I still stand by my opinion.

(I like to talk with reasonable people, and I count you, Steril, among them, even if we don't agree in ten things and agree on one)

I know exactly what you mean. But if you start acting like in your last post, you are slowly becoming the devil yourself which you have been fighting here.

I hope you realize that...

I know It's kind of difficult to not get a negative view on all these things happening here for such a long time, and there are threads, where I can just sigh, and shake my head. But as I said, if the day ever comes I start acting like Waldorf and Statler from the Muppets Show around here, I will be gone... ;)

@HammerD

I think its sad that some one lots there jobs.

I most give Amiga Inc credit for getting things started, but I give credit for all work being done to hage partner (OS3.5/OS3.9), eyetech (AmigaOne) and hyperion (OS4.X).

we all know that Amiga Inc's had financial problems, and I'm happy that AmigaOS is safe in hyperions hands.

I wish every one that lost there jobs success in finding a new job.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Well I think more people (including the users) got burned by them. Unpaid wages, broken contracts, unpaid rent...coupon scandal....list goes on.

If Bill McEwan lost his job then I have no sympathy at all, sorry.

that's unprofessional! I'm happy that Hyperion's page is alwa... Oh.

Another day gone and 'www.amiga.com' is still down. I hope Hyperion are saving up to buy the domain name when it becomes available. That would be the cheapest option to steady the ship. Obviously, all the IP would help to enable 'Amiga' branded hardware, but I think that 'AmigaOne' & AmigaOS branding is probably enough. Buying 'www.amiga.com' is a priority now!!

Should we start a bounty to help Hyperion purchase it?

This may not be that easy. Expired domains has grace periods and sometimes registars buy them to put some lame SEO-BS sites on them. Also, according to DNS entries, it will expire on 23-Jun-11 so it's not up to grab.

This looks like "noone's home" situation where dead company, that assets are owned by someone without much interest, derail off the Internet. It will be fixed once someone will notice unpaid server invoice or something to that tune.

Amiga.Inc seems to have moved from 355 Gilman Blvd
Suite 201. Possible that the phone is included in the room.

I do not think it sprinkled down firm. I think
to regroup and change business.

It may be possible to dump the name Amiga
and choose another name, though I doubt
to it

In the end, it appears likely that the cause of website closures
is simpler than we guess. Maybe upgrade your hosting server.
