Thanks number 6. SO its for old school parallel port printers (or was it serial?)

I still have HP6P at fathers place, but it will take me some time to bring SAM there.
So I can do OS4 test, but not quickly (take me as last option)

At home x86 I have HP LJ 1010, but that is what DOT printer device should be for?

Yes, the LJ1010 is a Dot4 device. If one of the Dot4 drivers work (usbdot4.device or Dot4Spool) then great - if not, you'll need to connect it up to the network somehow.

I'm not entirely sure how Gutenprint communicates with the printer, but I would assume from what terminills has said, that it either talks through a .device (eg. parallel.device) or via a DOS handler (eg. PAR:)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

but WHY? you've come further than anyone else! sooo close.

as I mentioned before we can set up a bounty for you.

Please reconsider as I fear all this Amiga Linux stuff lately has put you off balance perhaps?

As a current OS 1.3/ 3.9/ 4.1 and AROS (AspireOS) user I know that the printing system improvement is a top five 'need to do list' so hopefully he will explain why the sudden change of heart (I hope that it has nothing to do with health or family matters)

He can not answer that for obvious reasons:

I suggest you use PM.

So he's been banned from Amigaworld for abuse reports?
Does this have anything to do with the OS4 openlinux fiasco, or is it something else entirely? Very odd.

@scabit

Perhaps he will tell something somewhen or not. I can only say the members from a certain camp are very fast in pushing "Report" (against members of other camps) so the involved persons should think to themselves if it is always justified (and also the moderators who finally "execute" it). Otherwise it could become finally very lonely...

On the other hand saying one certain OS is the only real AmigaOS and thus saying the others are retro, oldfashioned (68k) or not Amiga seems to be perfectly ok because noone is contradicting so it seems consensus between the fans of this camp. Hardly motivating cooperation...
