I would expect that they have been working on something so if they hold back they would loose any development cost for that project.

Not quite. The 68030@50MHz is 18 MIPS and has more powerful instructions. Most AGA games need the 68020 ISA and won't work with the 68000 Dragonball. It would have been a lot more interesting if they had gone with the Fido CPU and it's CPU32 ISA instead. Fido has single cycle traps so it might have acceptable speed at emulating missing 68020 instructions and addressing modes. I hope the price of the Minimig+ is below the fpgaArcade or it will have a difficult time competing even if the CPU power is comparable on paper. It looks like the fpga Amiga clone wars are heating up though. I couldn't read the fpga on the MiniMig+ because it was fuzzy. Is that a Cyclone II?

Edit: No it's probably a Xilinx Spartan fpga again.

So this CPU is like a 68000 but a lot faster? And is the Minimig Plus going to be AGA compatible anyway, or is it still OCS or ECS display modes (with some "Mega Agnus" to support 8MB chip RAM)?

18 MIPS are the theoretical maximum; Amiga 030 accelerators (at least the A1200 ones) have benchmarks of around 10 MIPS. Yes, 10.8 mips of the dragon ball cpu are theoretical also, but is prudent to think that on a modern design with faster ram and with none of the Amiga 30 years design bottlenecks, the dragonball CPU would perform at very near of the maximum theoretical.
Of course it not have 030 instructions (have dragonball custom instructions not prsent on another 68k cpu?) but 68000 optimized code will perform almost identical on both CPU. Of course 030 optimized code on a 68030 will outperform a dragonball running 68000 code. All of this is only speculation for my part at seeing the specs
