Honestly, if you think back and look at the outcome, could there be more... erm, lets call it "mishap"?

Well Commodores blindness to graphics revolution on the IBM compatible computers, there reluctance to adapt common standards like PCI, and Chunky Graphics, and working on AAA chipset, plus cutting corners (only 2MB ram in Amiga1200) ended in there bankruptcy, ESCOM continuing and doing the same thing, Amiga Technologies failed again doing the same thing.

Amiga Inc while bad they did manage to hire someone to get AmigaOS3.5 and 3.9 out.
They also managed to get Hyperion working on AmigaOS4.x.
now there has been many updates over many years, and there has been improvements here and there, they are not doing it any worse then AROS or MorphOS.

I think the only thing that can fix this if some invited a time machine, got some who had a clue to buy AmigaOS when Commodore went bankrupt, but that is not going to happen, now its bit too late I am afraid.

We just have to live with what we have AROS, MorphOS and AmigaOS4.

I've always thought that VisCorp never owned the Amiga. Would you care to elaborate?

@cdimauro

I did read all your OS4 related articles and that is why I don' t trust you at all!

http://www.appuntidigitali.it/17050/amigaone-x1000-ritardi-costi-elevati-scarso-supporto-e-pessime-prestazioni/

Here for example you destroyed the young X1000 ... it is evident even from the headline ... how can you state "pessime prestazioni" = "very bad performances" for the most powerful Amiga hardware ever created?

And I could continue for hours but I don' t want to advertise such articles anymore. OS4 people here are warned.

X1000 is not an Amiga. And if it was then G4/G5 Macs are faster Amigas.

@Massi

"Bad Performances" is relative to x86 at same frequencies and features with modern OS (XP, Seven, etc)
X1000 is the powerful, for now, in NG series, but only in Amiga market.

However, these articoles, are for any people that want to know how it works these hardware, not to polemize.

@KimmoK

Ok, lets leave "is X real Amiga" discussion. "The most powerful Amiga hardware ever created" is not much said. It is like saying in 1987 that "Amiga 500 is the most powerful Amiga hardware ever created". While maybe true in Amiga context you should also compare to other platforms than just Amiga.

X1000 is Amiga from the moment it runs AmigaOS4, the official successor to Commodore AmigaOS.

G? Macs are not supported to run OS4.

Fortunately for OS4 people, the systems work and perform MUCH better than described there.

"Massi makes total sense, if you read his postings backwards with your eyes closed while you're in coma".

But you're right, "very bad performance" is not an accurate description, the X1000's performance is ridiculous if you compare it to anything produced in the last decade. Or your smartphone.

If people don't mind this or the machine's price and still enjoy their X1000 - good for them. But trying to forbid the rest of us from describing what we see isn't helping anyone.

Don' t personally offend please.

I am used to enjoy what I have and take the most from it. Improvements are always possible.

I agree the price is very high though.

No it isn't (That is a verifiable fact, and not an opinion): the trademark "Amiga" has not been licensed to be used for this machine.

The "Amiga" trademark has, in fact, been spectacularly divorced from the "AmigaOS" trademark as part of Hyperion's pyrrhic victory/settlement agreement in the Amiga Inc vs Hyperion courtcase. (Well done Ben)

See how this ridiculous arguement can keep going round in circles?
