Sounds good, would indeed rather see A-EON in charge over DiscreetFX.

@Daedalus & cgutjahr,

Obviously neither of you understood the warning in my previous post in this thread, so I will make it perfectly clear in this post. The next member who posts anything about OS4 vs MorphOS vs AROS vs any other OS or camp in this thread, will be banned for at least 7 days for ignoring moderation and violating the TOS for these forums.

STOP NOW! Stay on the topic of this thread, or take your opinions to PM or email.

The 3 previous postings by Cool_Amigan were not moderated and are a silly attempt to discredit moderator actions (nice try but your font size was not quite correct). Cool_Amigan has earned a temporary ban from posting to these forums for his actions.

Challenging moderation by attempting to impersonate a moderator on the forums is not an acceptable way to show your disagreement with moderator actions. Please use PM to contact the moderator in question, or contact any other moderator or staff member with your concerns.

Have amiga.org under Aeon who is making the only one new machine AmigaOne i think is a real marketing right things.
Plus aeon is making the hardware for amiga classic too .
Probably the old owner of amiga.org was not able any more gave the right mantainance to the www.amiga.org web site (financial , time , real life)

@tlosm

Aye, its the best URL they can get for easy to access forum for users and random people searching.
Also there are a quite large resevoair of aging guys like me that still "only" got Classic hardware, but got the financial freedom to spend on what peeks their intrest, be it cars, parachute jumping or ... NG hardware/OS

As I said, I got Classic hardware only, but take a keen intrest in NG all the same.

Accomodating for easy to access information can only be a good thing, both for current community members and POTENTIAL future ones.

In my opinion the change in amiga.org ownership is a good thing for the community as a whole.

Having a company (AmigaKit/A-Eon) that are focused on using a.org as part of the ongoing prosperity of the Amiga platform (whatever the flavour) works in their interests to generate business, as well as the remaining Amiga user base to have a place to discuss all things Amiga.

There are now many different English language Amiga forums, possibly too many (eab, aw.net, a.org, amigans.net, morphzone, aros-exec, etc). This results in splitting the user base across red/blue/classic/aros areas of focus instead of being in one place as one community. Who has time to check all of them everyday?

Many people in the community, like myself, enjoy using all the different types of Amiga, not just one flavour. It would be nice to have one forum location where everyone was welcome to do so, without being shouted down by the same certain people with the same old tired responses regarding their favourite Amiga flavour, which probably lead to the split to multiple forums in the first place...

The Amiga community is too small these days to fight over different flavours now. We ideally should be one community again.

Hopefully a.org new owners can help harness the energy of the community towards that goal, and remove some of the unnecessarily negative people who frequent there - that caused me to use aw.net instead. I am not interested in or have time for negative people. Life is too short.

I am a glass is half full kind of guy, so I hope for a bright future for the Amiga.

My two cents.

Catcha,
Epsilon

What a wonderful oppurtunity for Trevor and Matthew. I wish them nothing but the best in their new aquisition and cleaning up of those forums. two people who are not only decent folk, but their passion for all that is Amiga is untouched by anyone else. Best wishes to them both.

@ Thread,

Actually, it would probably a good idea if Aeon and Amigakit took over DiscreteFX and did the port of Aladdin4D.

We do now

And was one of the reason for our interest in Amiga,org, It has original Commodore approval and predates everyone else. The logo itself was created by Amiga graphic artist Kevin Saunders.

Good luck to those involved.

So long as it's possible to have a healthy debate, or offer constructive criticism I dont really see any problems. Cant really hurt at very least :)
