@pavlor

I would not mind some clarification on the following as well:

Quote:
They do sell "Licenses" for the use of the names "Commodore" and "Amiga".

With a link to the Commodore Smartphone, to whom C=Holdings B.V. filed an objection, NOT Amiga Inc.

Source

Not to mention the Amiga Inc./Hyperion CVBA settlement agreement:

Quote:
The Parties shall also use best efforts to avoid marketing any products using the "Boing Ball" logo and imagery in a manner which creates a likelihood of confusion in the sense that the intended public could believe that the goods or services come from the same undertaking or, as the case may be, from economically-linked undertakings.

which suggests a product identity conflict, as I read it.

@damocles
Apparently there is an alternative project that is going to be backed up by individual computers, however not meant as replica, but as an enhanced proposal in style of an original. sounds interesting, but especially since nothing is openly know about this yet, it remains to be seen how good it is. it may well meet a split response.

well yes, and there's a *cough* discussion going on about that and relationships, etc.

well, yes as usual. but i dont think it will have an deciding impact on the current kickstarter project. i personally like bothe, but not that sure, what would be the correct way to behave for both sides. in fact it could look like roughly defending territories.

btw there are picturies of the concurring project posted. unfortunatelly you have to log at a1k to view them.

after i thought it through, im not sure if its a good attitude to negatively comment on a project just as it decides if it will get founded. it seems jens comment is based on personal assumptions, just as it has been in case of gunnars apollo core and igors vampire fpga. even if he just learned of the other project these days, this move can only be interpreted as an attempt to prevent the kickstarter to succeed, even if in order to conserve customers to fund the other one.

even if i understand motivation from commercial point of view, i have my doubts about it being over the edge of what might be fair.

Let's not forget Petro finding and offering A1200 cases also, during this same time period...

I am sure he knew about them and thought that if he tried and sell them after a succesful Kickstarter they'd be worth much less, so he tried to get rid of them quick before the Kickstarter is over. Classy.

yes, but this is perfectly understandable. i dont know much about the person, but from what i gather what concerns the amiga dealings, its what he ever was (good at): remaining stock salesman. i dont see here any lines crossed.

Jens is out of order trying to scupper the kickstarter. The designs he posted aren't significantly better in my opinion and don't look as good as the original case design. He claims the team responsible have been working on it and planning their own kickstarter since before Philippe's first one, if that's true what have they been doing all this time and why wait until the last few days of Philippes kickstarter to go public. This action and that of Petro probably have a lot more to do with self interest than the interests of the wider Amiga community.

@IanP

just to be clear, Jens states he only learned of this other project 10 days ago?

Quote:
I learned about that project last saturday at the Amiga30-show in Neuss

There is no public information about this case project #2, right? Not even country of origin?

might be that they still are planning and have not decided to go public except demanded on a1k. i dont think there is any plot on their part.

Down to 10 days left and ~$23K left. I'll be doing my part early next week.

@damocles

Over ¤6000 in pledges in less than 2 days.

Kicktraq shows a rather positive outlook for it meeting the goal.

4 days left and about $2,200 USD to go. Think this one is going to stick. :)
