@Plaz Why have we been waiting so long for new hardware? Easy I think, but we must cover a bit of history:
Until 2005 we had the (Micro) Amiga One. Once it was clear no new hardware was coming from Eyetech (probably late 2005?), Hyperion clearly would have been asking Amiga Inc to license new hardware.
Now, perhaps not coincidentally, on 22-Sept-2005 Bill McEwan requested the OS4.0 source code from Evert Carton. Hyperion refused, presumably because of outstanding debts (among other issues). While Amiga Inc was negotiating with Hyperion on this issue, they obviously would not want to give-away one of their biggest bargaining chips - the licensing of hardware.
Even if licensing of hardware is not technically needed (and I am not convinced yet), Hyperion may still have kept to Amiga Inc's interpretation of the contract, to keep them happier during negotiations. But by November 2006 we know that negotiations had fallen apart. Fast-forward a few months, and Hyperion announces a hardware deal with ACube.
Thus the simple answer is that I believe Hyperion delayed new OS4 hardware until negotiations with Amiga Inc terminally failed. edit: Of course, so far there is no proof ACube that will make OS4 available for their Samantha board, but that seems the likely course of events IMHO.
