The units didnt sell out really fast at all, I went to shows, and there boards available there, when the shows closed up, still boards available.
While that was the case back when the OS was not yet available and with the earlyer prereleases of OS4 which people were not that impressed with, in 2004 when the OS has become mature enough and very attractive to the masses, the XE was no longer available and the first batch of uA1's were produced in October 2004 IIRC and sold out in a month or so. I think there were 2 more batches produced, each batch selling out in about a month. I was in contact with a number of dealers in Europe and they all told me that the boards they got were of limited quantity and sold out in a week or so.

Hyperion wasnt interested in porting to either, several of us tried for either one of those, I guaranteed a 1000 units sold for the Mini port, or I would buy the delta, Hyperion was not interested!!!!
That is simply not true. They made it very clear that they will not port to hardware which is not endorsed by AInc and that those wanting to get OS4 ported to their hardware must get a license from AInc. The ports didn't happen because AInc refused to give licenses.

I dont know what you are smoking, but 20K units never would have happened
OS3.9 sold more than 20K units even though it was only a minor improvement over the previous version of AmigaOS. If OS4 was available with a steady supply of affordable new hardware from say 2004-2007, I'd be very surprised if it performed much worse.
