@HMK

One thing that seems to bother me a bit with any player out there on any OS is that MP3 tags and any player programs I have seen are geared toward bands. The data that they have set up is usually very poor structure for classical music. Classical music has some of the same things, but some of the other things just don't fit.

In Classical music an artist or artists can perform with an orchestra under a conductor and the piece is usually not written by the performer so you also need to include the composer. All of these are seperate and distinct factors in classical music, and also ones that I may want to hear grouped together. There is also other information, like Opus/Kershel numbers, movements, key, as well as some works are numbered such as Beethovens Symphony #5.

It is kind of nitpicky, but I really would like to see something that talors itself to the type of music. I think anyone that has knowledge of classical music probably has the same problems. It works, but it's not a very comfortable fit.

@nzv58l

Look at fb2k - it stores all the metadata (artist, tracknumber, name of the first Bb clarinettist, etc) in its own database which isn't limited by the rubbishness of various id3 tags, whiich means it can sort your mp3s in the way you want as the physical tags are not considered very important.

Abstracting metadata from physical tags is something any serious mp3 player must do, as it allows anyone to command it to display, store and use their files in the way they want.
