I think maybe 2000 users, but I haven't been following this board more
than one year so I mine is a wild guess.

I still have my old A1200 but I don't use it much more because it would need some remodeling to. I have always supported Amiga since my first A500 in the early 90's.
I even bought the 3.5 and 3.9 updates even though i didn't use them much because of the state of my A1200, nevertheless I thought if I bought mine copy then it would help Amiga survive.

I feel the same about the A1 so I plan getting one this summer.

@Samwel

>Eyetech must have surpassed 1500 sales by now.
>µA1 seems to be a roaring success (relativly speaking).

For me it seems more like the early Peg2-days, very very low batches get produced, while resellers have a long backlog of orders. Lets wait and see what happens when this backlog is delivered.

Locking at the active actual A1-owners I got my doubt that they will go anywhere near 1500.

>When comparing this site with many other Amiga forums
>this site seems alot more populated.

How many users of this site are actually only interested in classic or emulation ? And how many of those would visit morphzone ? Also don't forget that a huge chunk of the MorphOS-users are scattered over national forum like pegasosforum.de ?

Don't know of any non-english pure OS4-site comparable in size.

>The Pegasos users often brag about +2000 sales. But these
bPlan claimed to have used 1million parts recently, which would mean more like 5000 boards.

>can't be all MorphOS users.
I would say most of the ~700 Peg1-owners are MOS-users, and also noticeable chunk of Peg2s went to MOS-users.

>Otherwise almost none of them visits community sites.
As said, you just foget to check the right sites

>Seems to me there are less than 500 active MorphOS users

You mean every single MOS-user downloaded SteamDraw atleast once ? And that isn't even counting those that followed a direct link (bypassing my homepage and the counter) ?? Not even I think I'm that good

>out there. AmigaOS seems to grow faster than MorphOS now.
Maybe, but how much of this is just due to the fact that "reds" had to wait until recently to somewhat bearable HW with a useable OS4, while "blues" could do that years earlier ?

>But maybe there are somewhat more developers of serious
>software for MorphOS?

You can bet on that

>Hopefully this will change in time as AmigaOS users grow.

Both commuinities (even if combined) are way to small to attract any serious developers from the outside (exceptions are only there to proove the rules), so those must come out th current community. But most of these have allready choosen side long ago.

Typical Kronos logic. If it's a red side, it can only be retro-geeks and classic emulation freaks.

If it's a blue site, it's cool.

Rather transparent, don't you think?

Ain't I right in assuming that pegasosforum.de has 219 members?

Typical Rogue logic. If it's a Kronos-post, I must debunk it, no
matter how little sense I make ,-)

Ain't I right that aw gets lots of visits from classic and emu-user,
while morphzone get next to none ?

And your free to tell me a pure OS4-site that has more than 219 users
(with a great portion of users that don't visit english forums).

I believe that the number is more than 2, but less than 1 million, there is no way we are going to be told this information in the near future. Eyetech will know exactly how many orders they have had, but if they don't want to tell us, they won't !

But we can estimate.

Do you remember that all MicroA1s have serial number printed on the sticker?
-->click
(hello, new MicroA1 user, tell us the number )

or

27 dealers, 2 batches, 10 mobos in each batch ( someone mentioned this)

so

~500 MicroA1s

and

~1000 AOneSE/XE (Alan mentioned this during some event),

Yes it was a very large head start but it is sustained growth that really matters. Time will tell whether OS4 can sustain growth or not. Like you said, it is too early to tell just yet.

I got my AmigaOne XE-933Mhz in November 2003. I think I'm the only person in Australia between Melbourne and Sydney that has one. I was contemplating selling it at one point to buy a laptop but I came to my senses. Now I have both

I have the number 750 on my µA1-C
Does that mean we have +750 board made?
What does the GX mean after 750?? God it's eXtreme?

I think 1500-1700 is a reasonable amount of A1's out there.
Atleast 90% of these are used for AmigaOS.
Some users have multiple boards, which still leaves us with
atleast 1000-1200 individual users. I think anyway

Someone (Kronos?) mentioned that maybe even +5000 Pegasos
have been made. But atleast 3000 of these must be pure Linux
machines?

@ Kronos

Why does MorphOS have all their users scattered over different
sites? Isn't it better to support one big MorphOS community site?

Just by looking at MorphZone you'll see that it's almost always
the same 30-50 users writing. Anyway this has been my perception
of the site when visiting and reading the forum.
I could be wrong though! I'm so very sorry if this the case.

Ok, this appears to be a good way to guestimate. Here we (potentially) have board #81.

81, going once, going twice...Do I hear 82?

First person to 1000 is a winner!

You never actually make sense, so this is no problem.

It would be a welcome change if you could actually back up a cleaim of yours with facts. Would really surprise me. Assuming doesn't make anything right, and matter of fact is you don't know anything. All I know is that aw.net has almost 15 times the regsitered users like pegasosforum.de

Quote:

Why should I? This site is very much frequented by OS 4 users. I know for sure that most of your camp don't visit here because of the evil moderators, so we can pretty much rule out that there are many MOS fanboys here, except those that (like you) see their only purpose in life to raise a finger or post numbers they made up and don't have any backup for.

Now? What do you have in terms of numbers to back up your claims. Let me guess... Nothing, as usual.

@thread

Personally I don't understand how MorphOS got into this thread either.

What makes even less sense is Kronos' attempt to dampen the enthusiasm here.

Quote:

Like the early Peg2 days? And yet MorphOS Quote:

Looks like AmigaOne and OS4 is snowballing forward compared to the tortoiselike behaviour of MorphOS (despite the emminent help from BB). At this rate will they last the year out?

He seems to have an inordinate interest in what AOne owners post here.

Quote:

Very strange comment! I thought the biggest "thing" about MorphOS was how well it emulated classic Amiga? Not something to brag about in any case that you don't get classic users. Seems classic owners are more interested in the AOne then.

Gee, what could they be saying if they tell how many parts they have sold but not how many boards? Hint, hint?????????????

Well that sounds just about as informed as anything Samwell has said.

Sounds inteesting! What does it do? I guess a version for OS4 would be out of the question?

I would chalk up the increase in users to the availability of AOnes. Weren't enough SE's for the demand and likewise for the XE's. Would seem to be a bigger production run of micro A1's hence even more buyers and it seems they still aren't enough. Add 'em all up and you get a whole bunch. I've had my hardware since june 2003 and OS4 since june 2004, what does recent mean to you?

Hi Samwel,

I count in this thread, 26.6 users, including DaveP's 12.6 AmigaOnes (well, he DID buy an AmigaOne for One of the AmigaWorld.Net staff, of whom the name(tm) eludes me right now ).

And I'm 1 additional owner of an AmigaOne XEG4 @ 800 MHz.

I stand by what I said in Amiga(ns) 3000?

Quote:
Looks like a new milestone will be passed soon, and, most excitingly, THAT will be the least amount of AmigaOnes that will be sold.

This is because while, not all AmigaWorld.Net message board members (LOUD and hushed) will be buying an AmigaOne, many will get/have a second, and even a third also. Factor that in with the non-English speaking users, elsewhere, and we have one of the computer industries most amazing legends that can be told!!!!

I still plan to also acquire an XC when it comes out, soon, I hope!!!!

Yes, there will be AT LEAST 3,000 AmigaOnes in existence, no matter what the out come of "The Big Project"!!!!! (Well, can someone think of a better name, please? I'm a bit lazy right now.)

Okay, so if there are 5,000 Pegs out there, how come BB can't/won't pay for MorphOS to be finished???? He must have a fistful* of dollars to do it, right?

* Or pocket, or bank account, or mattress, etc.
