@Atheist,

If I told you . . .

It is being work on. The layout is pretty much the same, the GUI is brought up-todate. It looks cleaner. Hmmmm . . . . what else can I say, Russ are you here???

Hi Warrent,

I'm looking forward to buying this when it's available. Any idea about how much it will be? Full copy, not upgrade.

Have a look for yourself:

I don't know about pricing. You'll have to ask Russ.

@evilrich

having not had the opportunity to use Superbase, does it have any sort of compatability with SQL?

I am having to use SQL at work quite a bit and actually find it quite useful.

That's an improvement to what it looked like before.

Not at the moment.

SBase4Pro comes with its own interpreted programming language called DML. It has a BASIC-like syntax and includes commands for doing database access. If you know SQL, then it should be easy to pick up - but the syntax is different.

Rich

I hope all gadgets and buttons will be getting a more modern look?
This looks VERY outdated actually!

Reaction? Or is it's GUI hardcoded?

I understand that a GUI is the very last thing done on a project like this.
But PLEASE make a nicer GUI!

Yes. It's hard-coded. Please remember that SBase has been around since the days of Workbench 1.2 and the design of the GUI reflects this. In fact, when I started working on the project there was still a lot of code in there for compatibility with AmigaOS 1.3.

SBase5 will use ClassAct/Reaction. The next SBase4 release, however, has basically the same GUI as before, but with a lot of tweaks and fixes so that it looks and behaves better on AmigaOS 3.x and 4.0.

Cheers,
Rich

Hi evilrich,

As long as it's fast, and BUG FREE , it doesn't concern me. It's an Amiga inspired, and therefore lean coded (I assume) DB, that's all I care about.

Eye candy can be a $15 update later.

Now, all we need is a full web browser and a spreadsheet.

(/ as other SW needs are hurled at him!)

It's fast (it should also be faster on 68k machines than before).

We're still working on bug-free.

Wow, that's cool news. I still have my old copy of SBbasePro.
Don't recall the version, I'd have to dig out the box and check.
I used to run a small home business on a souped up A500
waaaayyyy back when. I missed the news that is was being redone
for OS4. Is it still with the original developers or new owners?
I am neck deep in MS-SQL and Oracle these days. Funny I never
ment to be a DB administator. How'd that happen anyway?

Try Turbocalc for your spreadsheet needs, runs fine on OS4.
Including the macro language, and multiple sheets.

Mr Hardware Computers has owned SBase since 1996. The original developer, I believe, was Precision Software.

@evilrich

Thanks Rich for your great work. SBase has been Recompiled to work under GCC from SAS-C. This gives us much more potential for the future.
We have a couple things planned for SBase. Many bugs have been squashed and it is running better every day. We have 3 versions atm. OS4-PPC, FPU, and 68k.
We are still Betatesting our newest versions. Functionality is our main goal. Big improvements have been made and are being made in graphics capabilities. As evilrich mentioned some will appear in SBase5.
Give us your input on what extra functionality you would like to see added. Some maybe already implemented.

The SBPro4 I use I cannot paste from the clipboard into a field,
or copy to the clipboard. An ongoing irritant. Has that been seen to?
