@poweramiga2002

I am very excited, too, as i'm getting the MicroA1-C in June God, it's gonna be a lot of software updates and fine tuning the setup, but it's worth it!

@poweramiga2002
Yeah, it would be nice...biggest I'm waiting on is USB support that works on reboots with my KVM, the DMA enabled and hmm....hardware accelerated radeon drivers would be nice too.

But...I swear we just had a thread on this umm like 4 days ago? Gotta give them some time to CODE

Patience my young padawan user... :) "when it's done" is the standard reply :)

But your patience will be rewarded! ;)

Hmmm, trying to head off yet another "hyperion are a bunch of liars" thread...

Please remember that all that Rogue said was that he hoped the update would be out before July. He did mention early June but I dindn't get the impression this was a firm thing either.

Software development is equal parts art and science, that's why it can be hard to predict unexpected pitfalls and flashes of insight. For example, there's a program I'm writing at work, for which I have very limited time. All the designs I could come up with would work well, but would take far longer to implement that what I have (so a couple of allnighters wasn't going to help). I asked other guys around the office for ideas, but they all agreed my solution seemed the best way of doing it. However, last night I woke up with this amazing flash of insight about a seemingly insignificant relationship between two sets of data the program needs to process, and how taking advantage of this reduces the problem to one I've already solved a few times. I quickly got up, jotted down the basics of the idea and went back to sleep. I just finished coding up the prototype (took only a few hours), all that's left is to clean up the code, tighten up the data structures and do some simple optimizations, and I'll be done way ahead of time. When I explained the idea to a friend this morning, he said "you can do that? oh yeah, I guess you can. That's actually pretty cool. How did you come up with such a twisted idea?"

I love my brain

@poweramiga2002

The update is coming, soon. However, there are a few last-minute issues to attent to, and they need to be ironed out before the update goes online. I am pretty certain that it will be around the first or second week of June.

@CodeSmith

"equal parts art and science"??
Perhaps, but you must also give some credit to the muse.
The inspiration you described is exactly what I mean. I've
tried before to teach my more advanced students..
"If the resulting path is too complex or ugly, it usually means
you haven't found the enlightenment yet. Be patient and
it will come."

I can't say that this rules all of my work, but definetly
the best things I've done followed this path. Of course,
for those who have only programmed in windows, this might not
make any sense at all..??

To each their own, I suppose.

@lylehaze

The muse comes in where the art is involved. I suspect muses tend to avoid pure scientists

Algorithms are algorithms, my little inspirational incident involved a C# program. But then again maybe I still have some karma left over from my 6510 asm days...

@CodeSmith

The early hours give the best idea's.

Our brain is like a super-super-computer that reseives
lots of data during the day (and nights) that get sorted
out while we are sleeping. Ones that data is sorted, the
brain makes the necessary links to hold that data in our
brain. And sometimes there is the creation of a super-link
that gives us this verry nice inventions in the early hours.

I have had lots of these idea's in the last hours of my sleep.
So coders, if i may give you a good tip, sleep well this night.

@Rogue

This is really good news.

It's amazing how many people remember the Amiga. I was viewing this web site on my lunch break at work just the other day. A co-worker peeked over my shoulder and starting asking questions - he wanted an Amiga way long ago. We got into a good discussion about OS4 and how things have "grown up" since the OS3.x days. He seemed pretty impressed. The OS4 screen shots helped.

As OS4 progresses and things like the kernel, audio system, 2D/3D, USB, DMA, etc... mature it will make for some nice demonstrations to the pessimists out there.

Keep on plugging and as usual......

Nice. Say is there anything you can tell us about the AmigaInput part? Because that is something I so much want. Play E-UAE with joystick (oh man I never get any work done after that) or other emu progs. I wonder though if USB joysticks are going to work on a SE model. Hmm food for thought.

I can't say much about AmigaInput at the moment, it is still being worked on and progressing rather slowly.

I did test a few joysticks with the latest version of the USB stack and its hid gateway library, and found that all three I have (Saitek P750 pad, Saitek Cyborg 3D flight stick and Logitech Formula GP wheel) worked with the library, so I am pretty sure that they wil work with AmigaInput.

Can't say much about the SE, since I don't have any of them left. I guess we'll have to see.

Just in time for me to receive the MicroA1-C system! This is so great! How good will Update 3 performs on the MicroA1-C? I'm sure it will be extremely amazing!

I guess this is will be the last update before seeing the final version of OS4.0, right?

Yes, a lot of people still remember it. Now the only thing we have to achieve is that a lot of people actually own it again

Use words like, great, better than ever, faster than the speed light, and I'm sure Helgis will be happy
