| I've just preordered my copy of Papyrus Office. I think I'm the 59th, so we need only 1 more. I didn't voted the poll because it already counts more than the real preorders. This month has been quite expensive: Monkey Island, PageStream, AVD and now Papyrus !! I don't know if I will ever use fully these programs, but I will support OS4 native software development as much as I can afford it. Eventually I will sell them as used to someone that can do a better use of them (e.g. the AVD to a better developer than me).
Ciao Gabriele

Together with 6 OS4 users who bought Papyrus before the pre-order, that would make 64, right? |
Your are wrong these, customers bought the 68k version and OS4 wassnt mentioned on the order form until 2 of them reported that Papyrus works on their system after this we added OS4 68k Emul compatiblity to the order form.
Now we have reached the magical number. But I must admit its disapointing how less people are willing to buy software. What Metalheart mentioned is exactly the problem, users buying hardware but when it comes to software a big "oh no its to expensive" and other excuses. Im wondering what these customers want to do with their new hardware without software?
Some additional points for preorder customers. This preorder includes also free updates for 6months after purchase. Turboprint will be not longer required. No creditcard or bank account will be charged until shippment starts. |

As Turboprint will no longer be required, I will almost certainly buy Papyrus OS4. As you have reached the minimum pre-orders I will wait for the release now. I think a lot of others will do the same.
I had a quick play with the old Windows demo and it looks very good, and I look forward to seeing the OS4 version.

I don't have the money at the moment, but am going to buy it as soon as I get some spare money (the same goes with Advanced Visual Developer by Jamie). _________________ Best regards, hnl_dk - Henning Nielsen Lund [Denmark]

Will you use a similiar procedure to give us the chance to get OS4 versions of the other titles you have rights for? Alien Nations, Majesty etc.
As for low numbers... preordering isn't so popular to begin with, Im sure more ppl will buy the OS4 version than just those who have preordered. Plus some may be waiting for the finished version of OS4 before they shell out for additional software. |

Glad to see you in the thread I'm one of those who haven't preordered yet but just because at the moment i'm saving money to buy the hardware (buying software with nothing to run it on is pointless...) but PO is one of the applications i plan to support when i'll have an A1 (or equivalent HW, ATM i have only classics without Cyberstorm nor Blizzard), because i need it As a side note i think that you should count those who have stated to be still undecided or waiting for the release: of course not all of them will buy Papyrus but i'm sure some will. Thank you for supporting the platform.

thanks for the feedback.
and well yes i am aware of the current state of people not buying software but yes i do know that pre orders normally never work (we have been burnt many times on things like "IFUSION" and on deals never going trough etc).
so lets see how it goes after the release, i think it should raise abit though it all depends on the feedback given around at forums and ofcourse...the marketing.

What if most interested AmigaOS4 users would have bought the 68k version? IMO it's unlikley that they would have bought both versions without a significant discount and what would have been the incitive to do a port at all? IMO you should also realize that many people may have been put off by some of Titan's former public statements with regard to the A1/OS4 project.

That's great news, I hope everything goes as planned and you will make us proud with a great quality port! I hope you fall in love with the platform and Papyrus sells like hot cakes for you, so you will continue to support the project with all your future software releases! |

I think (hope) that there will be more people buyinf Papyrus once the final version is out; preordering doesn't have the best reputation in the Amiga community

I would also like to point out that this poll isnt wildly off in terms of numbers who say they've ordered, therefore its likely that the number who say they'll buy once its released isnt that far off either.

Also not everyone votes on polls and there have been AW polls wth hunderds more voters, even up to 1019 independent voters on a single AW poll! |

Exactly, not too mention as you were saying earlier about people not being too happy re Titans previous statements re OS4. I think I fall into that category and distinctly remember Michael making some rather discouraging remarks regarding the viability of OS4 all the while supporting MOS (which as far as Im concerned is certainly no more viable than OS4).
I also understand that people can change viewpoints/attitudes, business and marketing positions can also change, which is why I voted "undecided" as once its released I may well buy a copy (if it gets some good reviews), I'm also sure there are quite a few people in the same boat.

Hi Michael!
Thanks for your input. I have a question rhough, about one thing you wrote.
Quote:

Is this AFTER the OS4 native version reaches us or does these 6 months start the same time we get the 68k version?

Got me thinking, maybe it's time to purchase a "SEAL" µAmigaOne _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

That's not true, the numbers you got is people that are willing to preorder a software they (some of them) havent even tried it out so I think you should be happy about their commitment to support you. Quote:

Normally you earn customers you just don't get them. Once your software is out others will follow. I can't pre order or anything because I don't have a working Amiga at the moment, but when A1's are available again I'll consider your software e.g. after reading reviews, now i haven't even bothered look in to it that much.

I'm going to wait and see too! The drag of Catweasel & other software has left me skeptical. |

You want preorders and then you're disappointed, you want a dev machine, you stated uncorect and incomplete informations about OS4 several times, i remember fud email and posts.
If you bring Payrus to OS4 i will buy it for sure and i will thank you for supportin Amiga, preorder no thanks, only from software company which i like.
Don't want to be the bad guy, but i say what i think of titan. Btw i also think you're a good development software house. _________________ ikir |
