Here's not fixed XE + sii680, and the problem exists.

@jack

Heat and/or vcore. With wrong vcore i could run dnet at 100% cpu for weeks without any lockups... but with audio on... boom. My A1 now has a uptime of about 30 hours without any problem. And i know it is not the only prob, but if you have the wrong vcore or a heat problem you get these lockups as well.

@wegster

Sblive (second slot from the bottom), G4 1000Mhz, 512MB registered, both sii680 and via are used with dma on, ethernet always on connection behind a router.

More specs and case/mod photos on ikir.iksnet.it/computers.php

@all

FULL STORY

1-Received my A1 = totally unstable. The cooling system was not even stable on the cpu. Changed it with a better one and clocked my cpu to 1Ghz. Problems after a while.
2-My vcore was wrong, changed to 1,74 and lockups only with audio and quake 2 as described by you. After reading it was neded to be 1,79 for the 933 model i changed it (teorically it is 1,84 but 1,79 should be enough and cooler). My machine was 100% stable with 1,79 and 1Ghz.
3-I got these lockups again with hot summer. I modded my A1 and put 2 new fan inside, before it was TOOO HOT, indeed i had only one fan. Now i have the cpu fan, plus the tower fan wich blow out hot air outside teh case and a big silent alluminiuma fan wich blow in on the mb and cpu. The machien is stable 100% again.

I happened before i fix my A1 and then with fix but hot temperature summer. imho it is the same with or without the fix.

I hope it helps to track doww the problem.

Can I just say that is also where I moved my soundcard to after I noticed the problems... and I haven't had a problem since.

... however I did also adjust the VCORE and cooling + some other things so I don't know what eventually fixed the issue.

A1XE - Unfixed 800Hmz
SIL
SB128
Voodoo 3 (PCI) or Radeon 7000 (AGP) (depending on mood)

Althouhg I more or less agree with you (the text which was edited out) it should be noted that MorphOS on Pegasos suffered from 2nd ide channel lockup few years ago.

This happens only to few users, usually on XE.

I ran the test yesterday, with AmigaAmp playing an MP3 in looping mode and downloading 4 Linux ISOs at the same time via ADSL (ethernet). After six and a half hours, the system was still working (tune playing with no corruption or distortion of any kind, files coming in at a nice steady rate, system seemed fine) and I turned it off to go to bed.

My specs:

A1XE G4/933 (with DMA fix)
512MB "special" XE RAM from Kurt
VIA IDE, unit 0 is a HD in UDMA mode 69, unit 2 is a CDRW/DVD in UDMA mode 66, 500 buffers for both
Running "SetA1 FASTCAS FASTMEM"

[EDIT] Forgot to add, I'm running OS4Pre3, public bits (I'm not an internal beta tester)

@wegster

System:
A1XE-G4-800 Not fixed.
Standard CPU heatsink/fan
512MB RAM, memtester checked
using sil card for ide, via disabled in uboot.
using wireless network card to connect to web.
SB Live/emu10k driver
OS4 pre-release update 3

Results:
Tried a couple of times downloading 4 iso's and been unable to get any lockups, this is while constantly playing mp3's from ibrowse.
Also tried this playing mp3's from a usb drive and still no lock ups.

Lowdown: No sound related lockups!

@Curty

It is possible that the connection speed isn't enough to produce enough data transfer to provoke the problem.

The model is writen on the card (sblive usually has it in the corner that farmost fron the card's panel and pci contacts afair).

Regards,
Jack

Ok, for everyone who can reproduce the freeze at all times, please download:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~dwrae/test/soundtest.lha to RAM,

open a shell, cd to ram, extract it and do 'soundtest test.aiff' and let this one run (you might go crazy listening to the loop, so you might want to turn off your speakers ). Let me know if this freezes your system.

@DaveAE

So far running ok.

Edit:
Already 10 minutes downloading like crazy and playng the sound, gonna leave it in continuous download for a while....

Something that seems related: I also noticed that local playback usually lasts longer than straming audio.

Jack.

AmigaOne XE G4@800 fixed
ATHLON-type CPU cooler
Vcore 1.69 V (DIP switches near ATX power connection: on on on off)
512 MB RAM unregistered with setA1 SLOWMEM (see the seta1 output at the bottom)
VIA IDE with DMA enabled (see the idetool output at the bottom)

@DaveAE

It took a bit longer to crash (whacked it up to 5 ISOs because I was getting bored of waiting), but it still crashed - same symptoms, small repeated loop and complete freeze.

Sorry, didn't have a serial terminal hooked up.

Chris
