I remember someone posting on these forums that he was 'trying to' or 'designing it' or 'hoping to design' or whatever a PPC motherboard.....
Was it AmigaOne Productions ?
I try and find the post......
Cheers,

This is the quote about new hardware that I trust the most.
Quote:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/features/index.php?op=r&cat_id=1&rev_id=130&sort_by
The Frieden brothers also made it clear that they prefer not to talk too loudly about future hardware projects, which may still take many months or even years to be completed. They referred to the various failed PPC projects which were announced by 3rd parties for classic Amigas in the past. After this the Frieden brothers stressed that Amiga fans should not hold out for any such hardware... |

No, no, this is said by one of the friedens in the live webcast (audio...) The MP3 from this is downloadable somewhere !
He said something along the lines of:
'In a few weeks a new Amiga Hardware manufacturer will make some anouncement, but the actual production might be very far off....'
Dont know exactly what was said, have to listen to it again....
Cheers,

Nice try _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |

2. Who is the new company??? |
Maybe the ACK boards reached a "showable" stage? Or maybe something from KGrach or Gunne or Rose?

Why on earth does a new company stick to old specs as in theA1 - still having only SD-RAM, 800 MHZ CPU, and so on. Why not use the great momentum and throw out a modern specced board with DDR RAM, faster processor, etc.???? - Rule nr. one in buisness. If you want to compete, you've gotta distinguish yourself!
|
Similar specs could include DDR ram but a faster processor? C'mon we're having problems getting hold of what you call "only ..... , 800 MHZ CPU" which surely is a higher volume product than any of the super fast, really expensive, already booked up newer stuff.
I doubt such a product would make anybody happier except for the few developers making it who would be the only ones with such a board in the end.
The problem is still the same as it was when this whole thing started except that we now have an almost fully ready OS for it and an idea of what kind of mistakes to try and avoid.
Financially we're still in a tight spot and it's not sure that a new product can sell as much as the old ones because let's face it, most of us fanatics have already made an investment and to expect that all of them would make an equally large one again just when we have started to get some use from these machines is maybe a bit optimistic. Otoh there are definitely still customers waiting for something to buy and even more waiting for a finished OS and mayeb even a few more waiting for something with a bit little better specs and then there is an unknown quantity of potential buyers as well.
But I wouldn't put any really big bets on that just yet, anyway!

Hi,
Quote:"It wasn't me. I'm not that crazy." Hmmm..."wasn't" indicates the past. We need to hear "It isn't me."

| Well,
If no extra PCI slots at least USB 2 would be nice and Firewire would be extra nice!

I can say without a doubt, that it wasn't me, (and it isn't me now either )
My electronics design goes about as far as joining a couple of transitors together, knowing your PNP from your NPN is a long way from designing motherboards.
