I've now switched the gfx-card from Radeon agp, to a Voodoo3 2000 pci one.
And the Voodoo3 does work with Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun PCI.

I even managed to get sound out from the Aureon

So, the problem with the Radeon/Aureon combination not working, must be within UBoot.
(Unless I've got a faulty Radeon 7000 ? )

What can narrow it down a bit, would be if someone could try a Radeon PCI-card together with the Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun.
Or with a Voodoo agp-card.

Works here with Voodoo3 AGP and Radeon 7500 AGP.

@DaveAE

The common thing with the problem seems to be the Radeon 7000 (RV100).
Radeon 7500 has a RV200.

@tomazkid
This may be related to this thread since it involves
the cmi8738 and UBoot.

On a cold start I can play dvd's no problem with
my uA1-c GX using MPlayer #5 (Really a nice piece of work.)
However, if I restsrt the computer with the reset button or
reboot workbench via the keyboard, then attempt to run
MPlayer, it will read the dvd for a few seconds, crash the
shell, or most usually, lock the machine. Switch OFF, restart, no
problems.

The dvd drive is 2nd master on si680 card.

More fun and games!

Still on Micro 750GX/ATI7000/cmi8738/si0680, using MPlayer for
testing.

These tests involve the UBoot XFER settings.

My drives are;
VIA Pri master = YDL
SIL Pri Master = LG DVD Drive
SIL Sec Master = AOS4 w/latest updates

If I do not set the XFER valuse with the setenv sil_xfer and ide_xfer
commands, or remove them from UBoot, then the sound system produces
low volume with much scratching & popping. This is true for YDL also.

If I set the XFER values differently for the attached drives the same
poor sound results, or mplayer will lock the computer most often.

Right now I have the XFER set to ide_xfer C000 and sil_xfer C0C0 and
mplayer works great in both OS4 and YDL.

Geez, this dinking around crap sucks time.

Yes, funny thing is that it works fine on the microA1 which also has a Radeon 7000, or is it a mobile variant?

@DaveAE

If you feel it is possible to construct a test(s) that would be helpful to -any- of
your investigations, please let us know what hardware/software/firmware combinations
would be involved. We can then link people to this thread to offer any assistance
you require.
If this is not practical at present, just keep it in mind for the future.

Best Wishes,
#6

@number6

Thanks for the offer, in any case, we won't be able to solve the CMI/Radeon issue. What would help though, is identify which Radeons actually do work with it. It seems my Radeon 7500 works with it, so it might be the RV100 only that causes trouble.

@tomazkid

Can you send me a dump of your PCI slots from U-Boot ? I.e, in U-Boot, type "pci", find the address of the card (first colum, in the form x.y.z), and then type "pci header x.y.z" ?

Please send it to my mail address (thomasf@hyperion-entertainment.biz), I don't have enough time anymore to read these fora....

@EntilZha

I've sent a mail with pci header output now

General advice about pci command: pci 1 lists the 66mhz pci slot/agp.

Some more worrying news....
A µA1 owner has got problems like this one....
At least his µA1 boots most of the time.
I really hope that it is not a problem that will be a common one

Yes it does. I have one sitting here (currently writing an Amithlon driver for it) complete with a 290MHz RV200 chip.
