@nidave

amen, i have some of the cdtv software at home and all of it sucked. i was hoping the next round of software would be better but that never happened.

one thing that i dislike about consoles in general is they tend to be more action oriented. i call this the twitch factor. i would rather have a fun meaningful game then have games that only tests how fast you can twitch the pad while pressing a combo of buttons.

btw i guess you are right.

amiga; one date becomes a life of love.

Amiga; comfort in a case.

@jkirk

the type of games I like to play are like Sim city and (dont hate me for this) Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Anyone know how many CDTV's were sold and CD32's.

I remember using my CD32 as a CD drive for my 1200

(to keep my post on topic)

Amiga : " Gets your whites whiter than white"
Amiga : "9 out of ten people prefer it (if they used it)"
Amiga : "When you got it, flaunt it."
Amiga : "Because I'm worth it."
Amiga : “It's everything you want to be.”
Amiga : "M'm! M'm! Good!"
Amiga : “It's what your right arm's for.”
Amiga : “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.”
Amiga : “Schhh...You-Know-Who.”

Just a few points.....

PS1 only has a "lousy 2x" cd drive as well.
PS1 only has 2MB on board ram.
PS1 has 32 bit RISC CPU clocked at 33.87MHz.
PS1 also doesn't have a keyboard

Blimey...

In that case, that leaves me even more puzzled as to why the Playstation could achieve so much more than the CD32.

The PS one had a 3D chip, while the CD32 didn't, although one was planned. The Amiga really wasn't designed for 3D graphics, at least until we got 3D graphics cards. Gloom on the CD32 is slow at full-screen, while Breathless did run, but was even slower, and therefore never released on the CD32.

Well, that's not exactly the way to lure back ex-Amiga users! They might think we're looking for revenge for abandoning us!

@RoqueFort

I think someone is talking this a bit too seriously

Part of being secure about a thing (in this case the Amiga) is the ability to joke about it and take the Pis$ out of it. If we take things too seriously we will exclude people who are on the fringe of the scene (like me) or worse end up looking like a bunch of Lunix users

Amiga : “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.”

The PS1 had a huge push with the combined might of soney behind it. Remember this was thier first games system and they had to start from scratch. They pumped 100's of millions into delvelopment and getting software developers on board.

I think it was manily brute force that got sony to where it is taday.

@RoqueFort

Well the image can be found on this link.

I am not img linking due to some of the wording not being suitable for minors.

I see. Brute force is (or at least was) Microsoft's primary tactic too!

That's slightly different to what I saw before. I seem to remember an image with a huge computer and lots of people running scared from it.

Btw, does Eric Schwartz ever visit AW.net?

If you have enough money to thro at a product it matters not if its new or just plain bad. You increase awareness and start moving them off the shelves.

Thinking about it I dont ever remember seeing the CD32 Advert on TV, just on the CD32 Cover CD's

Some times I think we may take ourselves a little too seriously!

Amiga - "You don't need to use protection!"

@T_Bone

Rambling. Perhaps a slogan for Vancouver users could be found by playing with the name Amiga.

Amiga --> Am i ga ? Where the 'a' is long as in 'gay'.

Only your motherboard knows for sure.

Ah, yes- that's certainly how Microsoft products get around!

Me too- the screen was much smaller, at only 12.5 fps, with not-particularly-outstanding audio. I never saw the ad on TV; AFAIK it costs several tens of thousands just to air an advert once, so Commodore couldn't have afforded to air it much!

Are we going back to "which is the right port?"

Of course useful for marketing A1 only...

I thought that was the idea! Not much point trying to market classic Amigas these days!

@RoqueFort

I thought of the other boards to come, like Troika, ACK and Olegil's board.
