@treblesix
Let's not get into the ridiculous A1 v Peg2 or AOS v MOS, simple fact is they have grown out of different business models at different times.

The thing is, here comes a board aimed at a reasonable price with reasonable specs and yet some bag it. My question is then if the Peg2 is cheaper why aren't they buying that? I am not trying to offend anyone but in such a small market for a community that is obviously divided I would have thought ANY new player should be welcomed. Has anyone asked if MOS can run on this board, Linux maybe?

@acefnq

I was just wondering about the prices.
Is the Aone more expensive just because it runs AOS for example., and u have to pay for the privilege, or is it just that maybe more Pegasus boards were manufactured, bringing down the costs ?

@treblesix

I have wondered the same thing. Herewegoagain has also pointed this out.
Given the specs of a Peg II board at $499, it is hard to imagine why OS4 ready
hardware has to be more expensive with less features. Don't get me wrong, I
believe the Troika will be a good board if they sell them at the predicted price point.
I certainly would considering buying one because I believe in the future of OS4.
Straight answers as to why we can't have a board similiar to a Peg II has yet to be
given. Genesi is also selling to a niche market, so the supply and demand argument
really doesn't hold. Bottom line, how does Genesi sell a product at the $499 price
point given its features when everyone else claims it would cost a lot more to
produce a similiar board for OS4?

@bigsnyder and Treblesix
Gentlemen
They are indeed good questions you pose and (Treblesix) especially my comments were not meant to offend, discussion and logical debate should be necouraged.

Look at the history of both brands, Peg is owned by a HW company that does not own the SW (for this discussion MOS not Linux (nor do they own that)), the rights to the Amiga brand name is owned by a SW company but licensed to one (at this moment) HW company that does not own the SW.

I wonder why our community is in a pickle? I figure things this way, if I can afford it I will buy it and hope for the best. I have already had a great deal of fun (remember that idea) with my A1.

Interestingly enough, last night my brother gave me a piece of paper and said read that (he is a mechanic with no IT interests), it will make you think. It was a speech that Steve Jobs gave to a graduating class at (I think Stanford Uni) and interesting it was. Get hold of a copy and read it. Basically he says that great things come from small beginings and only happen through (eh emm) "love", loving what you do, you have to read the speech to understand what he says. In regards to MOS and AOS I totally belive this is true, they both only exist because we "love " them. The HW only exists today because the classic has gone. Something will take it's place as has Peg and A1 to date, something else will come from them in the long run if everyone chills out, participates and cooperates.

I wish the best for Troika because quite frankly to date our collective market stinks.

Cheers
