Funny thing is, that's exactly what Gary Hare did. |
Hi jorkany,
And eventually he was!!!
Hey, I think I'LL go print some up!!!
(Uh-oh, it wrecks my initial statement of not caring that he got a business license with "Amiga" in the name! )

I agree he was one of the good guys; however, I never recieved a t-shirt. The only reason I want a t-shirt is for its value as a $50 coupon for the final release of OS4; however, I have doubts that the t-shirt will ever be honored as a coupon. With the departure of Gary Hare, I have serious doubts that the t-shirt will ever be honored as a coupon.
Before anyone asks, I did indeed update my profile before the official sending of the shirts.
In one sense Gary Hare has gone the way of many before him. Jim Collas had many great ideas and a plan for the future of the Amiga. Unfortunately, he decided on an x86 architecture, which at the time the Amiga community was adamantly against (amusingly enough, most users are for cheap hardware nowadays). Before Jim, Petro and the guys at Escom kept the Amiga going by resurrecting the A1200/4000 line and planning for the Walker concept. Before Petro, Mr. Proudfoot (I think that was his name) of Commodore UK planned for a single chip super Amiga. They each had some good leadership qualities; yet, they did not have the financial or corporate backing to execute their plans. Proudfoot couldn't buy the Amiga from the C= liquidation. Petro couldn't fund Amiga Inc. after Escom's bankruptcy. Collas couldn't muster support from Gateway or the Amiga community. Everyone involved since Gateway has had little leadership skills or support. Gary Hare was a rarity in recent Amiga history. He will be sorely missed.

Why dont give up all this?
Hyperion is doing the homework. There are boards available, and more will come. Let they work calm to deliver the world the next AOS incarnation ( hey, rogue and thomas arent debugging when wasting his time posting )
All this is PURE speculation, and the only thing that comes out from that are NEW rumors, which affects all the community.
Just my two cents Last edited by FrankBrana on 20-Oct-2005 at 10:00 PM.

how many times do i have to point out that it's YOU and ME that have the VISION. Who cares about some guys in an unknown office?
WE are the heart and soul of Amiga and it doesn't matter what anyone else does or doesn't do.
Let's just keep our eyes on the ball. working on amiga programs, on the OS and don't get distracted by nonsense. |

| While I agree with the above - I would actually like some OS4 compatible hardware to sell! While Amiga,Inc. are the IP holders, they still have a critical bearing on permitting OS4 hardware to come market.

| I agree ... Amiga Inc. needs to wake up.
Despite the great job that Hyperion is doing, Amiga--The Company needs to reassert itself, let the community know that it's still there (whether it's being run by John Grzymala or Bill McEwen or ... whoever) , and make it clear that it's behind Hyperion and the various hardware efforts. We may not *need* a visionary Amiga Inc. (although that's the ideal, of course) but we do need something -- at least as long as Amiga is the IP holder. Otherwise, all these promising efforts on the hardware and software sides may stall. Last edited by JR on 21-Oct-2005 at 04:38 PM.

| From Bill McEwen announcement on Feb 22, 2002:
"However with all of the great plans that were in place and the product development that had started there was still the issue of having funds necessary to make it all happen, and the addition of Frank Wilde as our Chairman has been amazing help, and I can say we are moving forward in ways that are going to bring Amiga to new levels, and I could not be more happy with the results that we are seeing."
Frank Wilde aka Francis Wilde III was the former CEO of Ravisent. There was an unofficial report about Mr Frank Wilde quit Amiga Inc several weeks later (screaming, running from the office)
After Amiga Inc, he became the CEO of Tarantela. Tarantela was bought by Sun Microsystem several months ago. Does Mr Frank Wilde return to Amiga Inc? |

The rumour brought up by yourself, in you orginal post:

That rumor. Your post, #41. |
What about it? It's multiple choice, one of the three is probably true. Either he's using the name with permission, or without. OMFG!!! Rumermonger!!!1!
Quote:
| So may I ask why you say "which rumor"? |
Because my statement isn't a rumor. I suppose if I had picked one of the options and claimed it to be the case, then it might be, but I haven't. What I have done though, is asked the question publically numerous times and gotten no answer from any interested party.

| Ryan Czerwinski incorporating "Amiga" is legally documented fact. |
So? There is a Hyperion book store, a Hyperion (snip) |
Is there a Hyperion Entertainment that sells to your market, sells your products, offers branded machines and products, etc?? Give me a break, man, it's a reasonable question. The fact that you'd defend Ryan's intentions after all the shady crap he's pulled scares me.
Quote:
Quote:
| As to why this is so, what's your take on it? |
See above. Not that I would have any opinion on the matter anyway. |
I wasn't asking for an *opinion*, I'm trying to find out if Ryan's "Amiga" Corp is associated in any way, to the OTHER Amiga. It's a reasonable question, and one that doesn't deserve to be brushed aside like this.
Quote:
A sign? I am sure you can come up with a nice rumour around this one as well, can you? |
Again, what rumor? Either Ryan's Amiga is Amiga, or it's not. All I have done is try to find out yes or no. Why is this like pulling teeth?

I don't exactly see why a company "Amiga Corporation" should be an indication for your rumormongering. |
Technically if Amiga Corporation started acting in the same area as Amiga Inc the Amiga Inc may have a case. It kind of boils down to the question "Would it confuse the consumer to have these two companies both exist?" |
It's ALREADY confusing the consumer. Not one person can say weather Ryan's Amiga Corp is legit, or if he's associated with Amiga in any way, or if this IS "the" Amiga.
Even employees of Amiga Inc's business partners, in this very thread, won't answer the question._________________ "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you." - Oscar Wilde |

Any more hints.....
"It's sooooooooooooooo quiet here"....I almost fell on my ass.
See if you can get the rights for "Z" and port it to AOS4. Please. Along with pull down screens this would make my decade. Come on...it's an old DOS game, you'd just have to tune it up for internet play, add a few maps and so on. Add a little map editor and maybe a level manager and I'd buy that for $100.
And for the rest of you, playing quietly by yourself is not a bad thing.

This makes me actually suspect that he might be associated..
Brushing away such questions is actually what makes rumors such rumours. |

Hi T_Bone,
So the guy spent his last $200 incorporating as "Amiga Inc.". Big deal! |
The scary thing is, Ryan probably has more money than Amiga Inc, seriously. When Amiga Inc needed money, Ryan loaned them 6 figures so they could make payroll. At another time, Ryan bought the Walker design for $70,000.00(?).
The reason why it would be nice to have an official answer, is because there are only a few things that could explain Ryan's actions, and they're all more or less equally plausable.

I agree as well ! What kept the Amiga alive through all the various owners for the past 10 years ? No Company, BUT the Amiga Comunity... And now with the help of mainly Hyperion, and a few other dealers like AmigaKit, StellarDreams,...
