they do a pretty good job, and they are the primary direction i look forward to.
main source of interest i mean.

@Thread

This whole Amiga thing is a farce. I don't give a damn about who's running what nowadays, the only thing im happy about is the progress of OS4.

I sure would love if Hyperion was Amiga.Inc. - at least that would make me trust them again. I would also make life simpler.

Can't Eyetech, Hyperion, Troika just join forces and buy the whole lot. ???

THOMAS FOR PRESIDENT!!

@PhantomInterrogative

David Pleasence. Colin Proudfoot was his second-in-command. The computer on a chip idea was actually CBMs own and was a sensible natural progression. CBM UK was in the black when CBM went under.

What would have happened if Dave had managed to pull this one off?

Because my statement isn't a rumor. I suppose if I had picked one of the options and claimed it to be the case, then it might be, but I haven't. What I have done though, is asked the question publically numerous times and gotten no answer from any interested party.

That was a good one. You have no indication/proof for either, so I consider it a rumor. It is a rumor that I hear often, from different sources.

Quote:
Is there a Hyperion Entertainment that sells to your market, sells your products, offers branded machines and products, etc?? Give me a break, man, it's a reasonable question. The fact that you'd defend Ryan's intentions after all the shady crap he's pulled scares me.

Speaking of Crap, I didn't defent anything, if you look closely, so don't put no frigging words into my mouth or suggest anything. Just another one of your "facts". In fact I said that Ryan doesn't do ANYTHING, because he's what we in Germany refer to as a "zero-number", just big words and nothing coming out of it. Why would anyone go after him? He's not selling into ANY market because he isn't selling anything.

How you read that I am defening him is beyond me.

Quote:
I wasn't asking for an *opinion*, I'm trying to find out if Ryan's "Amiga" Corp is associated in any way, to the OTHER Amiga. It's a reasonable question, and one that doesn't deserve to be brushed aside like this.

You never cease to amaze me. You where asking on "my take on it". According to my book, asking for "someone's take on it" is asking for an interpretation of things. Since we all lack any solid fact, you where asking for my opinion. Isn't that right?

Quote:
Again, what rumor? Either Ryan's Amiga is Amiga, or it's not. All I have done is try to find out yes or no. Why is this like pulling teeth?

No, you stated that they are affiliated or illegal. Neither needs to be true.

@freaks, who said:
"hyperion ... got the permission from ainc to develop amigaos if anything happen to ainc, hyperion will be able to continue to develop aos."

I thought this was the case, but have been unable to find anything on the web which confirmed my vague recollection. I remember that Fleecy Moss & Alan Redhouse signed something to that effect at a show (maybe World Of Amiga SE 2001?), but can't recall if anyone from Hyperion was there too.

If it is true, then the best thing that could happen is to just let Amiga Inc go bankrupt (PLEASE!). Hyperion might not then have the right to use the "Amiga" name, and so just have to call it "OS 4.0", but we'd all know it was still Amiga OS.

The name is very important. Without a huge marketing budget to establish a new name - Amiga - even after all of the mistreatment we have seen is still better than starting from scratch with a new name - way better. Besides OS4 is genuinely Amiga and not just in name. Who would have thought that in 2005 we would be able to use a new version of Amiga OS that is backward compatible with the legacy of the Amiga. That's something positive to look at.

But then you would be in the scenario that any one could claim their OS was most Amiga like, for example MorphOS.

"hyperion ... got the permission from ainc to develop amigaos if anything happen to ainc, hyperion will be able to continue to develop aos."
I have also heard this stance repeated over and over again (And I really hope that it is true). However what I dont understand is: Wouldnt this clause be in effect allready? As far as I recall KMOS acquired Amiga. The "old" amiga inc dissolved and after a period of time KMOS renamed itself "Amiga". Wouldnt this change activate the clause, granting Hyperion the rights to AOS?
I am not a lawyer and I do not pretend to be one, but do anyone know if this could be the case?

@d0c

let's face it though, it's not just amiga inc, some so called "Amiga users" inc Ex Users are just as guilty of the Muppet tag.

Why trolling ? Is it Amiga-like by the name only ? Or you could reverse your words "we wouldn't be able to say that OS4.0 is more AmigaOS than MorphOS". Please think before posting.
