@brotheris

This ( the name thing ) has really, really, really been discussed to death elsewhere,
and no one agrees on anything so it is quite pointless to pollute this thread with it.

Please start a new thread about if you need to discuss it.

Shame I'm not familiar with this. Why not work on getting the rights for 'Z' yourself?

The scary thing is, Ryan probably has more money than Amiga Inc, seriously. When Amiga Inc needed money, Ryan loaned them 6 figures so they could make payroll. At another time, Ryan bought the Walker design for $70,000.00(?).

Makes you wonder just *how* is he making all this money, doesn't it?

Oh and by the way stop winding Rogue up. You really pissing me off about this, and no doubt quite a few others. I'd rather you just drop it now, and don't reply to my post.

You know, it was a perfectly reasonable question, why you people are getting "pissed" over it is really beyond me. If you don't care about the question, just ignore it, OK? There's certainly nothing wrong with me asking it.

What a silly thing to get upset over.

I really don't get you at all either.

Since you KNOW so much about Ryans business and Amiga Corp (whatever that is) then please tell us what it is that he is selling and what the company is registered as?

Who said I know about them? Heck, if I knew I wouldn't be asking.

To answer your question though, he's incorporated as "Amiga"

It's obviously a good question, even Amiga Inc's business partners don't seem to know the answer. I was hoping for an answer from Amiga inc themselves when I first asked them two weeks ago.

None of them know the answer. Rather I'm being villianised for asking.

Seems to me then that you're asking the wrong question!

Instead of asking why Amiga Inc. isn't bringing the good Dr. before the bench you should maybe be asking what the Dr. Ryan is doing that would force Amiga Inc. to take such actiion. Or for that matter why anyone should care?

It seems most people here have disregarded Dr. Ryan as nothing more than a hoax so the question all of us are asking now is why you have put such importance to the matter if you don't know something everyone else doesn't?

Maybe it's an "american thing", i can't say. I'm no legal expert. But in america - and Amiga, Inc is in America - if a company does NOT Prove they are protecting their trademarks and copyrights, they can lose them. period.

I'm sure you're right about this, and it definitely sounds like an "american thing", but I find it hard to believe that even the United States Patent and Trademark Office could fault anyone for not taking action against someone not doing anything.

For a trademark that is unique, say iPod for instance, then I'm sure you can get a patent on the name alone and forbid it's use anywhere. I'm not sure this is applicable for a general usage word like amiga which is used by several other companies already and probably used on a large scale in spanish speaking countries (at the very least) making a restriction difficult unless some sort of product infringement is involved.

But then again like you I'm no expert, so go figure.

I'm not trying escalate this debate. Actually I think it's a no brainer and until someone can prove otherwise it warrants little to no discussion.

As for Garry Hare leaving I can't say that it was expected but thats the way things go and I wish him all the best with future endevours and hope he got something from his involvement.

I understood it to be at the time that Bill and Fleecy would remain in the company and I guess that still holds. Without any statements to the contrary I can't make any other assumptions. At least the e-mail from Garry puts an end to any of those rumours (the ones where Garry was fired, kidnapped by aliens or changed his sex) before they can start. At least he was always upfront!

When someone with Ryan's background and track record registers a company under the name "Amiga", I'm interested in finding out why.
You ask why anyone should care? That this man has apparently ripped off unsuspecting amiga users in the past is enough for me.

Anyone know where I can find the money to buy out Amiga, Inc and get things back on track?

List of priorities:
1. Conference call with Hyperion and SCEE.

> Ryan - Las Vegas - Elvis

From Extremetech:

Mr Bill McEwen is famous for its "Elvis Impersenator" promotions.
Perhaps one of them is none other than Ryan C.?

"His varied background even includes driving trucks, and he's famous for some of his promotional escapades, including unleashing a flock of parachuting Elvis impersonators at the Comdex trade show,"

> Money for buying Amiga Inc.
Just put in your proposal: "Cursed company that had bankrupted large companies in the past".

Wait until they are bankrupt and buy from the liquidators at 1/10th of the cost!

Blimey. I don't check the site for a while, then come back to find this.

Do I wade through the pages or go straight into some uninformed speculation as to what happened?

No, it wasn't a reasonable question, I mean, why post that on here and not via email? No one really cares what Ryan whatsisname is doing or up to.

All it has done is wind Rogue up and to be honest, no one here gives one iota about the question apart from you two it seems.

It's too sad for words.
