They have nothing of value to sell anymore. What's worth 20 Million these days, kickstart roms!? (I have a feeling the most important asset, the name, has either been licensed, sold, or they are just not interested in defending the trademark anymore)

| I don't think Amiga was bought for $20 million, I believe it was a lot less. Gateway did not sell everything, but granted full rights to use what they retained (the Amiga patents I believe are one such example). I guess some research in the forums and google are in order.

Not really. Amiga Inc has been a salvage job for the past few years. Perhaps the equity firm that owns them can afford just to wait or perhaps the name itself is really not worth that much anymore.
I wonder what they'd take for the name?_________________ Sam |

The fact that Ryan Czerwinski of Merlancia has registered a Corporation by the name of "Amiga" and nobody will even comment on it.

I would agree. The figure itself has never been made official but there is no way that any company would have invested that amount to then do nothing._________________ Sam |

| but but but....what about Gary's Internet OS? The mystery device? And Gary's big time telecon customer? WAS IT ALL A LIE??
I find it humorous that a year ago AW seemed to hang on Gary's every word, and now nobody gives a rat's a$$. What changed?

(relatively speaking)
I guess it's like getting screwed buying an expensive lemon. You keep thinking about how you'll never recoup the costs by selling it, so you drive it untill the thing falls apart, because it's just too painfull to face the loss.

I'll bite! Either he registered it under the correct assumption that Amiga Inc. wouldn't do anything about it, or he has the blessings of Amiga inc. My guess is, when you're running a company out of a double-wide trailer in the backwoods of Washington State, you don't have the funds to sic a lawyer on everyone who violates your trademark. Look at AmigaOS4.com for example.

You can't seriously think that if AInc is selling or merging with someone then it would be Merlancia.
God no, then my theory is better. Troika & Hyperion and Eyetech is merging and becoming Amiga Tech.

| Hold on a second...
DaveyD merely quotes an email, supposedly from Garry, and you just consider it a fact?
It may not be April 1st on this side of the sun but that doesn't mean it's true.
It looks a bit odd to me and a few questions would be in order:
Could the email be a spoof, for example, did DaveyD check the "Received from" IPs in the email header?
Why would Garry email that to DaveyD, out of the blue, months after the facts, instead of having someone at AInc or himself make a statement here or at least on Amiga.com?
Why would Garry/KMOS, buy AInc, rename KMOS to Amiga Inc. and just step out of the picture without first seperating AInc from KMOS?
I'm not implying that DaveyD is lying, but something doesn't look right with that email and the statement it makes.

| I think it's clear that Amiga Inc, if it exists, does not have the ability to protect any trademarks it may or may not own.
I also think the following should be noted: 1. Amiga inc screwed the users (making them buy worthless coupons). 2. Amiga inc screwed developers (not even nearly fulfilling their promises, leaving people stranded, again and again). 3. Amiga inc screwed employees (and didn't pay them even after courts ordered them to do so). 4. Amiga inc screwed their partners ("Amiga" OS and hardware makers). 5. Amiga inc did not do anything to further Amiga development.
In light of this, I think it's simply time to leave AInc out of the equation altogether. Although I don't have knowledge about the relevant US and US state corporate laws that are relevant for Amiga Inc, I cannot believe that it would be so difficult to get them into a proper bankruptcy.

Oh plenty to talk about, just can't say
I would however add, (as an educated guess) that Bill McEwen is running the company again, and probably never left the hotseat.
But as I said, it's an educated guess, pure speculation.

Sorry to keep it going, but I thought that Garry Hare and KMOS had bought or somehow "taken over" Amiga Inc? To say that he is "no longer associated with Amiga Inc" is the language that you use when you no longer *work for* a company, not when you have sold it to someone else.
Just curious. Now back to testing this "mystery device" . . .
