I have my work cut out for me now.

I have an update for limpidclock, fix my older one for Wet and now I'm taking on
this one.
I think I'll have to free a couple of hours in my schedule for this later today or
tomorrow...

Oh, I make another when I get back from work... You would prefer another one, right? Or can you use it as it is?

No, no need, I fixed your .ct file last night to test the code with. Works nicely.

@AmigaPapst

Yes, the site is currently down. I'm re-designing it, well trying to.

Epistula will be released with an MSN plugin for the first release.

@AmigaPapst

When someone else writes it I'm afraid. I've started it, up to the point where it will add your contact list to Epistula but I ran out of motivation to finish it.

The source code of the ICQ plugin I've started will be released with Epistula as a basic skeleton/demonstration to writing plugins, and so someone else can finish it off

@Slash

Could you explain what "Custom names" are?

Is it that you can give a special name to a contact so that you display "my friend" (custom name) instead of friend@machine.com ?

And in this case, what are "Custom Name Contacts" ?

@elwood

Yes, a custom name is the friendly name that you can choose to override the name given to you by the server. For example, I have a friend on my MSN contact list who just puts "Neil" as his display name. I choose to have everyone's full name so the custom name associated with "Neils" account/email address would be "Neil Brannigan".

When this name is displayed in the list, my custom name overrides the server name. This is an option however; it can be turned off.

"Custom Name Contacts" is the title of the group which contains the list, and other gadgets (buttons, strings etc) for adding the custom names. In the future, other options will be available in this window so having titles above each set of gadgets would make sense.

@Toaks

I haven't been offered one yet, so you please, go ahead. Localisation is really just there for completeness, and to test that my code works correctly with foreign catalogs so it's no biggie if things are missing at first release.

I'm getting quite nervous that it isn't going to work when I release it too :-/ Paranoid? Maybe

You regged users (thank you!) will need a new key for the version one release anyway, so all in good time.

I'm wondering, why did you remove support for all the 68k MUI classes? Is being completely OS4 native very important to you? I'm just thinking its a shame we wont have the graphical smilies. That was a big reason why I was going to register. I will still register though. :)

Btw, are you still thinking of porting to OS3 and MOS?

@jahc

They will return, as soon as they're 'fixed' and ported. Specifically the HTMLview custom class.

The thing I found with TheBar, HTMLview and TearOff 68k classes is that they work fine when you use them in your startup MUI interface, i.e. created at start time.

However, when you use them in a dynamically created window, which I use for the conversation windows, by creating the window on the fly and using OM_ADDMEMBER then when you attempt to close that window later when you're finished with it, the whole machine dies, requiring a hard reset.

It's not just my machine, or my code, which I originally thought, it's reproducable on other OS4 machines too. Therefore I think it's something to do with the class being 68k and using OM_ADDMEMBER.

Take out the 68k classes and it works. So until there're ported to OS4, and that's being worked on, then there won't be any graphical smilies.

Yes, it's still planned to create native versions of Epistula for other systems. But not immediately.
