Yes, but not only for the Amigaone. For his high end board too.
Below is the announcement:-

Yes, i understand. But the board has to be released before they are of any use to us without already existing hardware.

Though dont get me wrong, as i think this is a very good step as it will increase their credibility regarding their ability to deliver hardware.

It's OK, I just went ahead in time and got you a transcript:

Quote:
Ahem... is this thing on?
What? ah yes. Well, I want to thank everyone for your patience and support, this is a great community.
I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, the CPU boards are in production, and I have lined up deals with several prominent amiga supppliers [cheers in the background]
The bad news is that due to a lack of RoHS compliant rubber grommets, I have not been able to bring a working board with me today. But don't worry! I promise that by next Saturday I will be able to announce when I expect to get some quotes for new grommets. And you're all going to love the new 3.14159 revision of the board, the PCBs are cool black with gold traces! [crickets chirping in the background]
Um. OK, I think I hear someone calling me in the other room, thanks everyone...

Troika's Amy '05 will be out sooner than later so I would prepare your case for that. As far as anyone knows, there will not be any A1's available again, but other solutions are being researched. The Amy board is the closest to completion so if you were a betting man, put all your chips on Amy.

And this was over half a year ago? And still troika has shown us absolutely nothing...
There was rumours that something was going to be shown at BB4 in a few days, but now it seems like it will be just another update regarding its features, even though it is said to be working prototypes. If you dont show anything real, then i doubt you will have many people left waiting...

Nope! I'm sure someone will tell you that hardware is "just around the corner" though.

@Tomas

Apparently, some people have not read the post from Troika developer Ian Stedman,
posted last night in post #39:

"The organisers have been very busy behind the scenes and are proud to announce that they are able to continue this tradition with a complete uA1 system as their 1st place raffle prize. "

So there IS hardware available, just win the raffle!

@number6

I posted this in the news item you linked to and I thought I would post it here too where more people are likely to read it.

Troika this is not directed necessarily at you, but it seems over the year’s people in the Amiga hardware scene do 1 of 2 things. (Some times they actually do both and switch back and forth). The two things are probably obvious from those that have been around a while:

1. Make claims saying hardware is “Coming Soon”. Make vague deadlines, not give any real information, but maybe show a schematic and a feature list. The “2 more weeks” strategy I call this.
Or

2. Don’t give any information on the plans at all. People are interested in the product, but the company is silent to the point you forget about them or think the company is dead. Dead to the point they are just a website on in the internet that has never been updated.

Why in the history of Amiga hardware can’t we just have a company keep us informed with honest up to date info. Saying:

“Hey we have a PPC motherboard that we want to develop for AOS4. Here’s where we are at: Hyperion is working with us on a port, we’re still working out licensing deals with Amiga Inc., here is a picture of prototype 1 and of prototype 2, as you can see we are using “X” chipset on one and X chips on the other. Here is the computer booting UBoot and here it is starting to load Workbench where it crashes. So far the unit is only booting part of the kernel, DMA is not working yet. Sound chip has not been tested or even one selected for 100% sure. We have this many more chipsets we want to try. We’re looking at this certain time frame for testing this or that.”

Why can’t we have a company that gives us info, gives us updates? I mean it’s not like the PC world where you might need to keep your project secret because someone might steal it. Honesty and openness both “together” is something we have never had. I put Troika in the honest category. Openness would negate any possibility of you loosing credibility. If something goes wrong a supplier or someone screws you, well if you’ve been open and honest the whole time, people will believe you and understand and will be willing to wait an infinite amount of time for you.

Open and Honest, that’s all we want.

@jorkany

I addressed my last post to Tomas. His post left me with the strong impression
that he felt he was only going to receive a verbal update.
Quote:
but now it seems like it will be just another update regarding its features

The link to the post from Amy developer Ian Stedman proves this is not the case.
Quote:
I should point out that the board you will see is the V1.4 design

Hopefully this will serve to clarify that Ian is bringing Amy to BB4.
Sorry you couldn't be bothered to read the post from the developer and
understand the reason for my post.

@ikir

Of course or can you tell me where I can now, immediately buy new Amiga-Hardware or what Eyetech is planning, working, shipping right now?

It's a matter of fact that we did not hear anything from Eyetech for months now and that there was not everything all right regarding contractors (dealers) and so on.

@AmigaHeretic

I have no issue with your reposting in this thread.
However, Ian Stedman and/or Troika would be the only one who could rightfully
respond to your post.
My link, though, should point out -one- of the difficult areas concerning the
area of "openness" you desire.
Though discussed in no great detail, Ian mentions the NDAs that function, on
one hand as a positive thing, but, on the other, as an impediment to you getting
all the information you desire.
I leave others who know the subject to comment further, if they wish.

On saturday Troika will be showing a non working prototype of their Amy05 board in the U.K. We should be able t get some real information from the developer at the show.

The following weekend hardware is planned to be shown in Italy. Little is known about the hardware at Pianeta, it could be working or even on sale. Who knows?

If after these two shows there is no compelling evidence that OS4 will soon be released, then make up your mind from there.

Alternatively you could bid on this Amiga1XE.

It's never going to be as convincing as actually seeing a machine working!!! At this stage I would expect some reassurance that OS4.0 Pre-release actually works on the Amy and that the licencing issues are water tight. As it stands this could all be as depressing as the PS3 Europe delay, except that we know for sure Sony will deliver eventually. Troika-The balls in your court!!!

@BigD

I'm hopeing to see something more encouraging in the Troika presentation. They say there is working hardware, so they should at least able to show a video.

Anyhow I guess we'll have to wait a few more days.
