No port needed. The Friedens personify OS4. They are OS4.

@polka.

What you are quoting was their plans, and what are plans based on if not estimates?

C'mon, we're arguing schemantics here. What I was questioning was the claim that they had said that the boards we're already in production. From what I know, they said no such thing and that's all I'm saying here.

Beg you pardon? I was just stating my personal guesstimate. Why don't you do the same. Something like "before Summer" maybe? We could even make a bet.

If I would have posted something as "I don't think we will see a prototype and production in 2005" in Autumn last year, you would have probably called it "derisive" as well.
Oh well...

But thats one of your strongest skills (meant as a compliment)! Although more likely semantics what you meant.

Agreed. The "in production" statement came from Adam Kowalczyk.

Well you would have to be mad to want to buy the Amy 05 anyway, The specs are extremely bad even for a low spec board, Hopefully it wont come out because soembody else has something up there sleeve.
Amy is nowhere near a realistic price for the terrible specs and doesn't have the novelty factor of something like the Powervixen (If either are real that is)
I think as soon as people forget about Troika and ACK and just hold out eventually something real has to happen or you can just go use a Mac or PC and save some money.

It looks from a business perspective that Troika are rellying heavily on this whole "Amiga users will pay for anything" routine and i dont think in the year 2006 this will be the case, And indeed why should it be ?

Hi Flexinoodle,

I guess you hate everything too, that's why you're telling everyone the absolutely obvious, because I know you are the only person that's brought this to my attention*.

* Actually, in THIS 24 hr period, as has been the case in every 24 hr period since ~June 2002.

Just tell us the form-factor and we will immediately start rendering cases for it.

Hi polka.,

Hey, let's not start getting personal.

Yes, but business as usuall would also include a statement saying something about a delay, when you already promised your customers two production runs before christmas. So don't tell people to get over it...

Promise? What promise? I've never read any statement from them saying "we promise...".

They have an FAQ on their website with all the information they are able to give us at this time. What else do you expect? More "promises"?

Besides, it's not like they owe any customers anything. They haven't sold or accepted pre-payments for anything so they don't even have any customers to begin with.

Furthermore, what I think we need is not more talks about things that are not done yet nor promises of delivery dates that are postponed every once in a while as they bump into more unforeseen problems. It's a good thing that they just get on with business and not makes too much of a fuzz before they have something to show for, IMO.

I'm sorry but I just think there's been so much whining in these forums as of late. Whining won't get us anywhere and I'm quite sure everyone involved are about as informed about the current situation as they can be. Unless you're able to contribute yourself in some way, let those who are doing what they can continue doing what they do and wait or go one with you're life if you can't or don't want to wait anymore. Anything else is simply not very constructive and won't help anyone.

They said so in the Total Amiga article.

Do I see the next (semantics) discussion coming up? What is "promise", what is "to estimate" what is "to schedule something"?
An intriguing discussion about business ethics in a changing world.

Why are there no AOS4.0 capable MBs available????

Answer:

From Troika's website.
Quote:
Q Why don't you add AGP to the system?

There are precisely 2 PPC northbridges available to buy, today that support AGP, the MAI Articia S and the IBM CPC 925. Setting the MAI part aside, the CPC 925 can only work with the IBM PPC 970/FX and as such is of no use to us.

ibum make CPUs and make no phreaking way to make a working MB with them.

Yes, they don't lift a finger to do so, but tout it as the best CPU concept in the known Universe!!!!!

@mbilla

Maybe somebody with some cash could buy the rights / designs for the AmigaOne from Eyetech and begin producing them again. (We will now hear loud protests that this would not be a profitable venture.) However, we do have a design that works; somebody just has to make it. Who knows, maybe Eyetech is waiting for OS4 to be completed (while Hyperion is waiting for hardware). That would be an interesting paradox.

@Atheist

There are numerous others that do not support AGP but there's the Marvell Discovery V that supports PCI-e, far more useful than AGP, nowadays.

Stop baiting people, BTW.

Why should you "trust" posts from some anonymous guy(s) on AW.net more than posts from some anonymous guy(s) on Moobunny?

Troika is, for all we know, some anonymous guy(s) on AW.net.

Besides, that post on the Bunny was quoting the anonymous AW.net guy(s)... ;)
And posts on the Bunny are generally subject to more scrutiny and open, free discussion by more technically minded people than on AW.net, so as far as "trust" goes... Well. Trust nothing, especially if it can't be discussed.

(edit: Something's wrong with the quote parsing. The {/quote} tag immediately following the link above didn't have effect. I had to put it on a new line.)
