@thread

afxgroup quote:

AHI and AHI_DEV are not present in this version. You can use ONLY SDL as audio output

Regarding this statement and any slowdown reported viewing say Windows Media Video 8
in conjunction with Windows Media Audio 2 at a size of say...512x384:

In shell:
Mplayer -ao sdl -vo cgx_vmem [complete path to file]
Shows NO slowdown.
Pressing "F" key for fullscreen invokes "scale", which is where the slowdown
you notice exists.

@number6

Use -quiet or >NIL: to speedup all.

For the video scale, go into menu when the video has started and remove "Scale Video" then go into fullscreen mode

Perfect.

Good advice, but I want to monitor the full text feedback, so I don't mind
leaving this out of the command line.

thanks for the tip,
i hope something could be done for the video.

on shoutcast tv, there's a lot of good programs to watch,
simpsons, futurama, lots of manga, japanese tv too, there's a lot.
would be awsome to access this from os4..

tnx

@afxgroup

Mplayer works great with internet streaming and WMV9. But there is audio sync. problems (is this do to the "slowness" or not)?
When starting a new stream. The video dos not update after about a minute.

If you look away from that. MPlayer works stable on my setup (no crach, lock up's etc.).

Request:
Is it possible to implant a "Buffer % usage" for internet streaming?

@Micam

there is the cache in my source code (using pthreads instead of fork() and CreateThread) but is not enabled since i'm working on it.. so you must wait..

@afxgroup

what do you mean "native codec?
could you elaborate? :)

all i can say is : on linux by default i got just the audio..no video..
then i added "essential codecs" available on mplayer official page,
(i put a link to thoses "essential codecs" in one of my earlier post in this thread)
and all worked fine. video and audio.

tested on a fedora 5 (old athlon 1ghz ..x86)
no wine, no nothing just fc5 and mplayer.
i wonder if it would have worked on the same fedora5 but on ppc hardware?

@freaks

that codecs are the dll taken from Windows that work with mplayer but of course they cannot be used with our mplayer.
We can only use libavcodec (like DvPlayer for example), so if the developers will add the support for that codec we can use it

@afxgroup

argh :/

can you just make sure about all this, when you have some time?
if it's really not possible yet, then too bad, but no choice..
if there's a slight chance to have this working i think it would be a must have.

@afxgroup

I just quickly tried the new experimental version with 3 MOV files that didn't play sound in the previous versions. The sound now plays!

Great job! Keep up the good work!

And where do we get the new GUI? It's not on www.onyxsoft.se or OS4Depot.

Here's the GUI: hem.bredband.net/deniil/

Check the "Open Control Panel" on the first page to use the control panel. There is also a "Start paused" checkmark that is useful if you use fullscreen and have a slow syncing monitor.

@afxgroup

What happened to the OSD? I see no volume and no time I just copied the exe, never touched the fonts.

@Deniil715 &

I did this. "fullscreen" option did not work with "control panel" as active window.
Instead, when I made the A/V file window the "active" window I -could- use
"fullscreen" from the pull-down menu Andrea referred to. I could also toggle
back and forth from "fullscreen" to "window mode" using the usual "f" key, from
previous versions of MPlayer.

Early report:WMV9 at end of play produced orange guru meditation (every time)
when player in shell with: MPlayer -ao sdl -vo cgx_vmem [path to file].
This did -not- happen with .mpgs I tested.
The same WMV9 files played with the GUI did -not- produce this problem either.
Curious. Why?
