Amiga Revolution.

It would be revolution, if:

  • Price would stay at $19.99

  • This wouldn't be some unknown board, probably obsolete and not produced anymore

  • Hyperion would be aware of it

    i'm doubtful but here's a name if it turns out it's true;

    Ameega, or Ameega followed by a number, say Ameega 6000 or something like that, but just plain Ameega would be nice.

    Kitty would be a nice name too... or kitten.. :)

    I guess the question is.....is it possible to get AmigaOS booting that far on hardware that Hyperion say they have never seen.
    Running U-Boot, and that's all what's on the screenshot (if that's real at all and not just a fake), on any system is no big problem since U-Boot is open source and you can add the required changes for your hardware.
    But the open source U-Boot of course doesn't include the ROM parts required to run AmigaOS4, and both the AmigaOne and classic Amiga versions of AmigaOS run on that board just as much as they will "magically" run on a Sonnet/Elbox PPC PCI card as soon as AmigaOS4 is released: Not at all.
    Even if the AmigaOne version wouldn't depend on the Articia, VIA 686, etc. it would still not run on a 405 CPU, same for the classic Amiga version.
    And even if that all wouldn't be a problem (it wouldn't if Hyperion knew somthing about it, AmigaOS4 runs on 405 CPUs already): Without a licence from Amiga Inc. it's as useless for AmigaOS4 as any other PPC hardware.

    I have a little question abouth the settup.
    Why are there 2 network-cables attached?

    If that board costs less then 50 $, and can be produced
    in the 1000's then i guess it would be no problem to get
    a good deal with Amiga Inc., i guess.

    I would say, send 1 board to Hyperion and you will know
    automaticly if it can run OS4 or not, as simple as that.

    How about Loraine or Loraine4U? Maybe we can market it to feminists and push the intuition. Not a thought just a feeling.

    If you want more info on booting, look at the PDF at the end of this page...

    How about "Laptop connected to Amigaone running VNC server"?

    It's got a nice ring...

    One observation: the laptop has Grey and Black network cables connected, the alleged development board has green ones. Why?

    Hang on a minute, I've got a picture here of Orac out of Blake's seven connected to my A1200 - the wires ARE connected, they just go out of camera shot...

    What's the company name? Where's the website? What are the current specs? Why is half the screen blotted out with an amateur box created in MS paint? What's the ribbon cable on the back of the board connected to? Why would you be so amateurish as to 'announce' a new board on a forum rather than release a news article?

    Oh, and where do I pay $50 for a t-shirt to support the upcoming product?

    @all

    Would you really buy a 266 MHz machine to use as your main computer, even if it did cost ~$20 for the board? Isn't it weird when your keyboard and mouse cost more than the board itself?

    It uses SDRAM and people were complaining about lack of DDR support in the Amigaones three years ago.

    Hell no, but it'd make a mighty fine router.

    @rickardr

    If it boots Linux or NetBSD or OpenBSD and takes some 1GB SDRAM, COUNT ME IN. I am not that interested in proprietary AOS4. But hopefully you can ship it with some BSD or Linux. Thanks for your attempt, good luck and hope to buy one soon. Possibly it is an AMCC chip , something like 440EP or 405EP processor. Hopefully it has a full FPU. A 440EP would be more suitable,but taking into account the current situation, better than nothing.

    @Boot_WB

    Looks like it was taken with a Toshiba PDR-m25, date 2000:01:01 18:17:57, problaly been without power for a while so that could explain the date, *deleted*.

    Edit: removed silly question.
