We agree as a matter of fact they only should eliminate minor stubling blocks by adding a simple feature.
As for the rest it can be provided by the community (heck we're almost there already) including the X-mos floppy controller (that by the way was mentioned many time as an interesting feature in X-mos discussions here.

The bottom line is that is would seem pretty trivial to implement, no big fuss needed.

Probably not enough demand to live off for very long, though... Maybe there's interest in a bounty?

Its a while since I used E-UAE but have been reminded by this thread about SlamTilt, Pinball Fantasies etc

I reinstalled GL-UAE and ran a few games.

Previously I am sure I had them in full screen but now only get a small area in the middle of my monitor.

I noted that the new Monitor settings only went as low as 640x480 so tried adding one of 320x240 which seems to work. However most of the games seem to lose a bit from either the top or the bottom of the screen.

Can any UAE experts advise on setting the best screen prefs to run things on a full sized screen. I'd much rather play SlamTilt with it filling my monitor rather than in a small square in the middle of it.


Also does anyone else get out of sync sound with these pinball games ?

Don´t forget Overscan...

I use 720x576 on computer of my father (19" LCD, 1280x1024 native resolution) and it looks really good! It is not so good on widescreen monitors .

Would it be possible to make a layer that scale the image to fit screen? in widescreen,it could be solved by having black borders on each side,so the original 4/3 format would'nt be stretched?

(I don't want to play a fat version of Super Frog )

Keep in mind that E-UAE gets from the system the screen mode that best matches its request. It's up to you to define the suitable screen modes in the ScreenMode preferences. F.ex., if you have a game running in 320x240 but your monitor is 1440x900, you should define a 384x240 mode to cover as much as possible of the screen area without stretching.

I decided to take the challenge

These are the caveats:
1. I'll support only games legally available on the internet (I'll publish a list and then update it from time to time);
2. I'll ask for a donation of at least EUR 1 for each game (the user will pay only after he/she has tried my stuff and found it useful);
3. I'll guarantee that the stuff I release works at the time of the release and I'll offer support only relatively to that.

Now, what does exactly "stuff" consist in? For now, I call such stuff "helper" (better names are welcome) and will work like this:
1. the user gets an .lha archive;
2. unpacks it;
3. launches an installer;
4. follows the instructions (has to answer just 4 simple questions);
5. double-clicks an icon in the selected place and enjoys the game

The requirements for helpers will be:
* internet connection;
* LhA in the commands path;
* wget in the commands path;
* SetDTool in the commands path (will be downloaded automatically if not found);
* glUAE (will be downloaded and installed automatically if not found);
* some standard AmigaOS commands in the commands path.

The requirements for the installed applications will be:
* E-UAE 0.8.29-WIP4 or E-UAE 0.8.29 + Easy UAE 1.5 (properly set up);
* glUAE (properly set up);
* a suitable screen mode, if run in full screen.

Now, whether it sounds easy or complicated to you, believe me: it's easier than you think! And you can try it right *now* with the very first helper ever produced: just download it from here and follow the instructions - please note that this helper is totally free.
Please try if it works for you and report your thoughts.

Tomorrow I'll add a page to glUAE's site where I'll explain all the details and where I'll publish the list of the supported games (by the way: a new version of glUAE is available on OS4Depot).

Just wanted to let you know that I have uploaded a new version to OS4Depot and Aminet.
I have also reviewed all the helpers* and updated/fixed many of them (a few remained broken because Back2Roots is gone, and I just didn't have time to rework them to use another source - today is a terrible day). The helpers can be downloaded from glUAE's website.

*For who isn't familiar with helpers: they are utilities that download, install, and configure (optimally) games so that they are ready to run with one click as if they were native. Hard to summarize in a few words: check out the videos on the website or give them a shot yourselves
