@Rudei

Yep Dune II alright! Brought to you via the wonders of the Turboprint 'screengrab' function. Great RTS game only surpassed by Napalm many years later

Back on topic: I was more upset about the demonstration of the CPU modules/high end board in Canada that wasn't to be, rather than the promised pictures! However, I really think we need to be at the mass assembly stage (not buggy prototype) before we can pass judgement on these new (vapour)-systems!

@-Sam-

Yes, some good things have been said. But is has been about 10 pages of thrash.

@ackcontrls

Sad to hear about your father. Hope it isn't anything serious and he gets well soon.

@thread

Critique is ok. Sceptism is also ok. But all this hatred for ANYONE announcing
anything.. Why?
Also remember that before Adam missed his first deadline alot of people where
extremely negative of his announcement. Was there "proof" back then also that
Adam wasn't trustworthy??? So all these comments that he has himself to blame
is simply BS. Those who complain will simply find new things to complain about.
Simple as that! It's a sad community these days.

Why is EVERYTHING vapour before anyone has seen it?
If I make a list of my DVD's and tell my friend I have a list of them he doesn't jump
all over me calling me a liar and demanding me to show him the list because
otherwise there is no list (vapour).

It's my opinion that most projects on Amiga where/are not willfully stopped. This
is such a small market that sometimes the plans simply won't come true. No matter
how much the author wishes or invests in it.

Adam, take care of the priority stuff: forget about us for the time being and take care of your dad. Everything else is immaterial.
1. Adam just likes the attention and made this whole thing up, even getting Hyperion in on it too, supporting him by saying that they have a funtional CPU upgrade for their AmigaOne and everything.

I must have missed this..? Did Hyperion say they have a CPU upgrade module from ACK somewhere?

Same here.. Anyone have any link/quote regarding this??
Nevermind, I appearantly misread Rogue's post where he said that he had his A1 running at 1.4GHz some posts back in this thread. I thought he meant that he had a prototype of Adam's CPU upgrade or something... not that Rogue said they didn't have such prototype or anything, I'm just making it clear that it was just me who perhaps read a bit too much into his statement and that it remains to be confirmed if it would be true or not.

@Adam,
Your father is in my prayers.

@Thread,
I have never before in my life seen a group of people as passionate
as Amigans are.
It's hard to understand how we could love something so much that
we all gather together and tear it to shreds.
Seems that way to me today.

As I have before, when things go the way they are today, I just unplug and
continue my work alone.
I'm lucky to have a machine that runs OS4. I hope that more people will
get a chance to buy one. OS4 deserves to be seen by more people.

Adam, I hope your father will get better soon. There is nothing more important then ones health. I wish you and your father all the best.

Rogue has even said that he hasn't got any hardware that Adam works on.
Adam simply makes the changes in OS4 he needs himself.

The G4 running @1.4GHz is something I remember Rogue mentioned a
couple of years ago when people talked about faster CPU's for their A1's.

@Thread

I have never been so disgusted before in my life. I'm not just referring to that one comment that was a personal attack but to all others who are cynical enough to talk about Adams hardware being vapour or not or mention that his misfortunes are perfect for him to back out.

I have lost my father 6 years ago. During the time he spent in the hospital nothing was more important to me than for him to be well again. Faith decided differently. I would give all that I have for possibility to change that but I can't. So I know what is like to fear you might lose someone very close to you.
And to all those of you who can't understand or don't have compation for your fellow Amigan (dare I say friend) I would not want any of you close to me or my family, ever.

What makes you so disgusted in this thread... was there so many individuals who done personal attacks at Adams, namely obviously *after* knowing Adams grief?

erm, . . . report, after all that's why it's there for...

if they are indeed personal attacks, they should be treated accordingly...

I just rolled a die. It came up "4". Would you say "that is somewhat indicative that the statement" 'most times when one rolls a die, it does not come up 4' "might not be all that correct"?

Different question --- I have a stick of cheap DDR memory, rated for something like 3-4-4-12 timings. I managed to run that memory at 2.5-2-2-8 settings in my motherboard, and didn't notice any instability. Does that indicate that all sticks of this particular model of memory will run well in all motherboards? Heck, does it even indicate that this one stick will run reliably in this one board for tasks other than the ones I tested?

By your own words, you have "a G4" runnning on "[your] board". That would contradict "G4s don't work with Articias at all". It certainly does not contradict "G4s don't work with all Articias".

First, Adam I hope your Father comes home well and it's not serious.

Even if Adam's really had enough and has decided to leave the crazy world of Amiga behind, that doesn't mean OS4 ceases to exist. I'm sure that Hyperion, Rouge and OS4 will find a home eventually on a hardware platform some where. I don't think Hyperion folds based on what happens to ACK. I was looking forward to ACK hardware so I hope that's not the case. I can understand Adam's anger if all at the same time, he's under developement pressures, his father falls ill and then he reads personal attacks here. I hope things work out and he finds a reason to complete his projects.

Wow, what a difference a day makes. I make a cheeky comment, come back a day later, the place is in flames and some of the firemen are at each others throats.

I have to think that this thread must be very amusing to a certain BBRV.

@umisef

ChainQ says BPlan handpicked Articia S chips for their G4 boards..
I don't know what problems Bplan had but..
Doesn't that sound stupid for +500 A1-XE boards??? Who did the testing?
Who had time to test all those boards? And then throw away those
motherboards that didn't work with G4?!

Yes Articia S is a really REALLY slow chip and has its quirks and own way
of doing things (non standard). But on this I must support Rogue..
I understand what you're getting at though.

Which means that in any sizable population of Articia S chips, there are some that work with (reliably?) with G4 CPUs

I am not suggesting Alan "hand-picked" the boards; On the contrary. I am just suggesting that Rogue being able to run that G4 might simply be down to "luck of the draw" --- just as me being able to run my memory way beyond specs is. It's great for those who are lucky (and brave enough to rely on being lucky :), but it does not a general solution make. Which is, of course, why you never saw Peg1/G4 boards for sale.

@umisef

Well, many people use G4s on their A1s, which would mean that there's a fix on the boards bPlan didn't implement on the Peg or something like that but I wouldn't know better.

There also seems to be quite a range of things called "G4"; Maybe some of the 7xxx models are more forgiving than others...
