| Please can I ask everybody with interrupts disabled to add to their post why they are disabled. Have you tried with interrupts enabled? Why did you disable them? Or has it just always been like that?
Thanks

I just noticed your request today, so I made an edit to my original post.
I do not run my MicroA1 on a 24/7 basis. Instead, I power it on when I go to use it and power it off when I am done. After I upgraded to OS4 Final update, the machine would randomly boot into a black screen on power-up, no Workbench, just black. Then I would do a ctrl alt alt reset and the machine would reboot and launch Workbench normally. At first I thought this was somehow related to network interface activities. Then I saw some threads describing this trouble, and the guys were discussing Radeon tooltypes settings.
On power-up, the machine would randomly boot into a black screen (no Workbench) ... ... solved Feb 3, 2007 by changing INTERRUPT=Yes to (INTERRUPT=Yes)
The black screen has not returned since I changed this setting.

Difficult to get people to return to a thread and add info after the info requested changes, so I'll give you a few links, just in case:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22316&forum=32 blmara in post#8 1st - getting very often a blank screen. Quote:
| Had this also very frequently with my A1XE/800 MHz/Radeon 7000. Changed flash battery, minimized WBStartup progs etc. No help until I decided that it has something to do with the new KickStart/ATIRadeon.chip. Replaced it with the update4 one. Never had problems since. |
redfox in post #11 Quote:
| I compared my settings with my OS4 update #4 settings and found that it was set to (INTERRUPT=Yes) in my OS4 update #4 settings. I have not encountered the black screen since I changed my setting to (INTERRUPT=Yes) in OS4 final update on Feb 3, 2007 (approx 9 days ago). |
Firbodi in post #15 Quote:
| This may be true. But amazingly INTERRUPT=NO solves the problem of AmiPDF scrolling interrupting the AmigaAMP/Tunenet/AmiNet Radio sound. |

| In the past, the machine would occasionally boot up into a white Workbench screen or a pitch black "Workbench?" screen. The black one has never showed up again since I disabled interrupts in tooltypes in DEVS:Monitors/Radeon. I haven't seen the white Workbench screen in ages, so I don't know what causes it. |
@OldFart in post #32 Quote:
| I set the INTERRUPT to its default value, as in OS4.0 Final the screen went black, just as you described. Oh, and in Final LAmiga+RAmiga+Ctrl in order to reboot does not always function. Upto and including release 4 it functioned properly, but since Final I have to perform a full boot more often. |
Same for me, btw. Interesting to note the # of Micro users with this issue in conjunction with onboard radeon 7000. I once raised the question of this issue being related to the Teron design PCI interrupt C being shared with Radeon 7000? When I commented on this, DaveAE responded: Quote:
| I wasn't aware of this, but it's not a micro issue either. Think about the emu10kx/ethernet issue which was 'solved' by changing from 1000 to 80 interrupts/second. |

Additional notes from KGrach. At one point he strongly suspected voltage as being the issue with these cards. He also mentioned a hardware issue in terms of a voltage "leak", iirc.
Perhaps he could post and rule this out as a cause of some of our issues. (as if we need more problems on top of ArticiaS, VIA686B, GX, etc.)

1. 14 0x1002 0x5159 ATI Technologies RV100 Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE 2. Tooltypes: BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 IGNOREMASK=Yes FAKENATIVEMODES=No VSYNCMIN=56 VSYNCMAX=76 HSYNCMIN=30000 HSYNCMAX=82000 MODE=640x480@60 MODE=800x600@75 MODE=1024x768@75 MODE=1280x1024@60 INTERRUPT=NO 3. ATI Radeon 7000 64MB DVI W/TV DDR card 4. AmigaOne G4-XE/800 5. Don't remember exactly what was the reason, probably a no-show when booting. But with the OS4 Final update I failed get display on reboot regardless of the INTERRUPT tooltype. Working now with the update4 ATIRadeon.chip driver. Sent this info by email to Rogue, didn't get any comments so I don't know if he even got it.

Typo?
INTERRUPTS=YES is equivalent to INTERRUPT=NO or "commented out" with "()" The tooltype is "INTERRUPT"

| @Chris_Y AmigaOne XE/G4 Radeon 8500 LE Running on OS4 'Final' version.
Monitor Tooltypes:
BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 (BORDERBLANK=Yes) (BIGSPRITE=Yes) (SOFTSPRITE=Yes) IGNOREMASK=Yes (DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes) FAKENATIVEMODES=No VSYNCMIN=60 VSYNCMAX=85 HSYNCMIN=31500 HSYNCMAX=64000 MODE=640x480@85 MODE=800x600@75 MODE=1024x768@72 MODE=1280x1024@60 INTERRUPT=Yes
Setup from day one. Have not changed. Cannot view video in WMV, MOV, Divx, XVID file formats using MPlayer_G4 released 12-23-06. Already noted in previous threads this is a limitation on drivers for the 8500 board. |

Hello, a little belated but here I am, just joined AW to post my info.
1. 14 0x1002 0x5964 ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] 15 0x1002 0x5D44 ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] (Secondary) 2. INTERRUPT=Yes 3. Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9200SE. GV-R92S128T. 128MB DDR, VGA/TV out, 8X AGP, 2-View. 4. AmigaOne G4-XE 5. Not only are interrupts on as I like them, I make sure my pointer is no softsprite either! Need real interrupts and a hardware sprite for my full AmigaOS4 experience! |
