@Geri

If you can't get hold of Adam you might want to try and email Stefan Burström (Jabba) author of IBrowse. He has been involved in some hardware fixes aswell.

@TMTisFree

I love the Amiga but I forced myself to slowly withdraw because of Hardware issues these little boogers are expensive and old and dying, and the new hardware is cheap and scarce to date, I'm still hoping for an affordable replacement, hence my presence here.

@fairlanefastback

Actually, with the lawsuit going on I don't expect him to announce anything.

@Zylesea

Promises, like rules, are made to be broken

Seriously though, where did you see Adam promising anything?

AFAIK he only made statements of intents, and that shouldn't be construed as binding to the same extent.

Sure, when someone announces an upcoming product he better deliver it eventually or risk losing credibility, but unless the announcement mentions a very specific date like "May 28th 2007", delays should be tolerated and no explaination/updates expected.

Heh, you talk as if real community guys were reading it, while I've just seen in this thread a buch of brainless trolls waiting for the minimal excuse to start trolling and flaming, trolls that don't understant how HARD and EXPENSIVE can be to pruduce ANY hardware -even more with a lawsuit on the OS to be used on that new hard-, trolls that only talk but don't do anything positive towards the Amiga, they only bash any initiative. I would pay to know if every one of these trolls are so perfect in their real lifes as they demand others to be. Bah...

Saluditos,

Ferrán.

@Ferry

I am an Electronic Engineer and I know how hard and expensive it is to produce hardware. That is another issue. In the world of Amiga we have received many broken promises, dreams and to be frank, bull****.

Ack (jointly with AI) has published a "specification" for a future Amiga board. He has also come onto these forums many times to explain the spec and defend/explain design decisions.

I am delighted that this is happening, now I just want to see some hard evidence to prove that this team is capable of achieving it and make it happen. Ack said that developer boards would be out by middle of May. Well it's June already and not even a murmur from Ack. It's hardly surprising that Amigans will begin to speculate, especially as Ack made some pretty strong claims about the speed of the new board.

As I understand it, the board he is proposing is a modified reference design, it's not like he is building this thing from scratch. It makes you wonder, perhaps those speeds were theoretical or his prototype was not robust.

Anyway, this was the first real test of this team, this was an opportunity for Ack and Amiga to show they could do it. Unlike some others, I won't pass judgement just yet, but so far it's not looking promising.

i see no trolling here, what i see is that people are willing to give ack a second chance but as usually its the same old behaviour from him...

announce something and then stroll of like a little blond schoolgirl and never been seen again, until next vaporware announcement...

and to make it even worse he replyed to this post but did not anwser the question of the topic!... behaviour like this #### off people... if he wants to destroy his reputation and credibility thats fine by me.. but giving people false hopes are not.. that are just cruel...

Second chance? 7th or 8th chance would be more fitting.

@d0c

Would you have released any hardware in the middle of a legal battle?

Please explain me, how on earth could you justife later, if things go wrong in court, that you equipped a machine wich OS was under dispute whilst you were aware of that fact?

ACK did worng to announce that the devs boards would come out on mid May. He shouldn’t have said anything in the first place.
But why are you so aggresive to him?
What has he got to earn from false statements?

And if the boards after all won’t come out? Then what? It will be another broken promise. Nothing more nothing less...

@thread

I have patiance. The Amiga is DEAD until it rises from its dispare and begins a new life with new hardware. Until it is available to purchase, its vapor, even if you could see a picture of the hardware today. If you can't get one for yourself then figure its dead. If you love the Amiga, then stick around and see if it can become a "R O M E R O " computer.

Dawn of the Amiga . . . .

I have hopes it will rise again, but until then, enjoy the show . . .

Would someone please pass the popcorn . . .

if he coudnt release any new hw with this ongoing legal battle, then he could have said so in this thread, it isnt that hard you know.... but ack did choose to avoid answer the question of this topic...

I doubt all of us should expect that given that most announcements thus far have been post-lawsuit filing.

You sure seem to like hurling insults. I will not do so in turn but perhaps you could expand your thought process Ferran to realize that most of us are already quite aware how "HARD and EXPENSIVE (it) can be to pruduce ANY hardware". Thats pretty obvious. What should also be obvious, IMHO, is that if you already have a questionable rep in the community speak as realistically as possible. Full complete systems available for sale on the entry systems by end of the summer, in a joint press release, IRC chat about Mid-May for dev boards, this is his own doing, he is a grown man, people have a right to question him based on actions of his own doing.

@fairlanefastback

What I don't understand either is, why ACK and A-Cube have to choose "sides".

If I was someone interested in a product, which I'd like to use in one of my products and because of a law suit of only two parties it's unclear from whom I would have to obtain the licence,

I would make a deal with both!

That way I can ship my Product an earn money!

Even if I have to pay royalties to both I have more income than shipping nothing at all!

Sure, anybody breaks promises (I missed dates myself several times) but when you say in end of April you will deliver something in 2-3 weeks and 5 weeks later you have shown exactly nothing but a paper tiger and have a low credibility anyway, what more than a joke are you then?

And even in "our market" there are companies that showed the difference: ACube and bplan/genesi. Both deliver.

Are we talking the PA Semi boards? If so, have PA Semi been releasing developer boards?
