| I feel sorry for acube... Must suck to have used so much resources on developing a board and then end up having no software running on it, which in the end will mean much lower sales. I doubt there is many people in the amiga community who will buy this hardware for just linux, which already runs much better on x86.
I dont understand why even hyperion bothered to come, considering they had NOTHING to announce from what i have heard so far. The very minimum they should have had was a real release date for the classic version. |

| @Tomas It would be even worse if Hyperion didn't even bother to attend - just look at the shocks of horror that Amiga Inc weren't attending. At least it shows they still have some interest/hope for OS4... _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

I loved seeing them showing (with no official press release [/sarcasm]) a cardboard box...
You can imagine Steve Jobs waving an iPhone box on stage saying "Look at this cool packaging... Product? When its done..."

Don't worry. Sure they created this board for a vaste range of markets.
Simply the fact it has also connectors to make it became a POS (Point Of Sale) mainboard grants a vaste range of the market for the ACube motherboard...
They developed it keeping an eye to Amiga market...
But Amiga market it is not their main market of reference.
But sure they added to Samantha adding also things suitable for the Amiga market and not oly for embedded uses.
Think for example to audio substyem.
It has no importance and there is no necessity of it in embedded market, but it is directly tied with any Amiga bare necessities for audio, programming, sound..._________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." from the link given by TheDaddy, there are some pictures.
one of them show AOS4 and the other one is A1200 with mediator.
there is no picture who show a A1200+mediator running AOS4 together.
someone can confirm if AOS4 is running with classic A1200+elbox hardware ???

I was also pretty sure that the difference for the 533 MHz was 60 Euro. Well, effects of aging. |
I suppose both of you are right and the 60 Euro simply refer to the lowest spec, i.e. 533 + 256 MB. |
And, as usual, you're right. 15 Euros is just the difference of price of the CPUs, maybe I worded it wrongly and it was not so clear.

Guruman showed MOS with the third beta of Sputnik and other things (maybe he wil be more precise). |
Well, I had betas of paint programs MOSPaint and Sketch, a couple of games, ldview (a Lego viewer... just for real amateurs!). And the usual software: web browsers comparison, Blender, Pixel, CanonToolBox, PTPDigCam, newer Ambient with filetypes and MUI4, mPlayer, ANR, ShowGirls, os4emu+DvPlayer (a slightly older demoversion), emulators and games (Robin Hood, VGP2 or Quake III native, and the WarpUp/W3D ones).
On a sidenote, the most enjoiable presentation was, AFAICT, the AROS one by Paolo "paolone" Besser. Also Amithlon and AmiKit were shown, and there were a couple of additional AmigaOnes (swisso's, for instance).
If I find some inspiration, I'll write a short report in the next days.
I uploaded some pics here: http://www.amigapage.it/index.php?pl=image&modo_image=6&categoria=fiere&name=24
Kind regards, Andrea |

Not so bad for the very first batch of motherboards, all produced in Italy with italian/european manufacturing costs... |
I cannot agree more. Bear in mind that this board has higher specs than commercial computer hardware (the boards are individually tested at -5 to +55 degrees Celsius). Also consider that the price will likely go down when some industrial customer orders a fair amount of boards (and no, we are not talking millions - some hundreds is enough). |

Wasn't there some info from a while back that said the design was modular and different spec boards could be made on the same line. I wonder if this means that user boards could be ordered without, for example, the flash controller. |

I would laugh so hard if after all this lawsuit nonsense, you came out one day and said, "sorry gentlemen, but I have this piece of paper from the trademark owners that says y'all have done nothing with them, so it's my turn now."

| Some pictures from AmiCon 2007 party in Hungary, by me, and some other pics and videos are by Cobra. Samantha working, OS4 beta running on BPPC and MorphOS beta running on Efika included.

This is true, but only industrial customers can pick their own configuration (and have a batch of boards manufactured on demand). Anyway people that are going to use the board for general-purpose computing will most likely want to have all of the features available (not that you can save much by removing them, except the Radeon, but then...) |

Thank you, Andrea. I've been proud and happy to be there, in order to show what AROS gained in the last months.
