aaaaw! that's SPLENDID! Hopefully will be the 3rd player ever to have sam coupe support! :D As far as I know, only audio overload and saaemu has support.
It will be a fun project to learn how to rip music from games and demos, i'll try to do that and upload 'em all to modland. _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

Yeah, completed Devil May Cry 4 on hard, now I'm on the unlocked SOS mode. Excellent game, but then I was a great fan of the original.
Cheers, Bean.

Update 23: AKA OOPS! We are running out of audio formats again! O_o *LPAC - a lossless codec *Monkey's Audio - a lossless codec *ALAC - Apple Lossless Audio, as used in iTunes. *Bonk - is a an audio compression program that operates in both lossy and lossless modes. *Speex - an Open Source/Free Software patent-free audio compression format designed for speech. here's the reply i got from the audio overload guys regarding sam coupe music! i guess you knew most of it already, but i'll paste it anyway.
Sam Coupe songs work like this:
1) Is there "ETracker" in ASCII at file offset 0xA? If so it's an ETracker song. Load etracker.bin (usually found in archives with Sam Coupe songs) at 0x8000 and the song data at 0x84B3. Run the Z80 code at 0x8000 until it returns to initialize the player, then run the code at 0x8006 each frame until it returns.
2) For all other songs, first copy them to 0x8000. a) If the song + 0x13 matches the bytes { 0x01, 0xff, 0x01, 0x3e, 0x1c, 0xed }, patch 0x01 to 0x8001 and 0x00 to 0x8002. b) If the song + 0 matches the bytes { 0x43, 0x72, 0x3d, 0xc2, 0x23, 0x81 } patch 0x01 to 0x8001. c) For all of these type 2 songs there is no setup, you simply call the Z80 code at 0x8000 each frame until it returns.
Those steps handle every Sam Coupe song I've found. _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

libspeex is already ported - I have it sitting in my newlib libs dir here.
I don't think it plays any file formats though, it's used for VOIP.
Do we have a player for PSG files yet? There are some here: http://www.nocrew.org/software/psgplay/tunes/
Last time I checked I couldn't get any of the AY players to recognise them (FUSE can save them).

I wrote a PSG plugin (based PSGPlay) but I haven't tested it so I don't know if it works or not.
The link you posted doesn't seem to open here. Firefox just says "Waiting for www.nocrew.org..." and nothing happens.
[edit]
Now it opened (after a few minutes).
I won't be able to do anything until after Easter though, as I'm not at my A1 ATM. Last edited by salass00 on 21-Mar-2008 at 01:20 PM.

uh... and to add to the confusion, i downloaded tfm music maker from here: http://velesoft.speccy.cz/turbo_sound/nedopc/turbosound-fm_music_maker.zip and there was a lot of tunes included, but they where named #?.tfe ???....
it seems pt3 (protracker 3 for spectrum) can also produce turbosound mods ... hmmm... _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

this one seems to include sources for a pt3 player for xmms... ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/bulba/squaretone-0.1.tgz would this be enough? maybe that ym emulator needs to be fetched from somewhere else and compiled?

If you have a PC then you can use tfmmaker.exe to open the #?.tfe files and export them as .tfd. |

That's great news about the Sam Coupe I will have to try some of those tunes as I think the SAA is a nice sound chip, its a shame it wasn't in more machines what with six channels and stereo.
I noticed you've added source for an improved SID plugging, I think ReSID is better as well but would also like to see support for the Catweasel SID option. This has already been implemented into the Vice emulator and works well apart from the forth sample channel on the Mk3 but I believe this can be worked around as the Windows player Acid 64 works well with all tunes. Would it be difficult to use the code from Vice to do this? |

I'll have to ask blacky about this.
EDIT: .... hmmm ... and to get this to work... I think a donation of a Catweasel to Salass00 would be in order, if he'd be interested in writing a plugin that is.
EDIT: It doesn't seem like the catweasel is available to buy anywhere though?
EDIT: Seems to be available here: http://asb-computer.com/shop/index.php?cPath=27_5 I' ve never heard of that store before though.

the catweasel sid support doesn't work on amiga platforms, however, blacky_stardust is working on getting it to work! and we should be able to use his code to make a tunenet plugin that supports the catweasel! :D

Thats odd on which Amiga platform do you mean. One attempt I don't know if it works is on Aminet for the classic Amiga's with zorro and pci. It is an adaption of the playsid.library and can also be found here (not an Amiga browser friendly site !?!?).
On the AmigaOne XE and OS4 I know it does work in Vice as I use it myself. |
