Isn't that for like only 2.3 percent of the shares or something ridiculous? Frankly I'm going to be really interested if Prokom's soon to be merger results in any company review of that deal. Millions for such a small stake in Amiga still smells fishy to me.

I have told Tedd he should register and post for himself many times. Maybe after he sees this slightly embarring thread he will take your advice and mine. DiscreetFX Partners consists of ten people/companies total.

@Pleng

In October 2006 DiscreetFX Partners also asked Hyperion Entertainment & Genesi if their companies were for sale and they said no.

Its up to the mods to say but sharing your account so that multiple people post under it is probably a TOS violation of this site. Probably worth checking on that. Also if you can't keep control of Tedd on simple forum posting usage how would you handle him running Amiga IP? Granted I don't see how you guys could do any worse than Amiga Inc. But thats not saying much.

Actually, the word crap is NOT a swear word. So... no reason to try to get around the swear filters, which I would never do anyway. In my opinion, my English Vocabulary is substantive to not require the use of swear words.

Really?

And *ahem* AROS? Quite clearly the cheapest OS to license and therefore giving you far more capital to spend on development? You know... writing drivers for an off-the-shelf desktop & laptop system which could be re-branded under your company name (D1000, D500 anyone?)... maybe funding that application bundle that I have mentioned on more than one occasion?

As I'm not expecting a response from DFX on this issue please other members feel free to complete the following tie breaker:

Buying Gensi, Amiga or Hyperion would be a better bet than the above BECAUSE...

AROS today is an operating system that is incompatible with Amiga. I have discussed AROS with the investors but to be frank they have no interest in AROS until it's Amiga compatible. I donated $500 of my own money to AROS yesterday. I would be glad to touch base with the investors again when AROS is Amiga compatible and thus in line with thier interests. Posted from my wife's iPhone, I wish it was posted from an Amiga OS 4.0 moble device.

Oh really? Crap.

I agree though that it seems every Amiga related company is severely inadequate (or as you put it, "crap-o-la") at public relations.

@Pleng

Trying to buy an open source project is pointless. The biggest benefit of being proprietary is that you can dictate the direction of the project, mandate what features get added and which get cut. A developer with a big ego who's wasting time on a pet project can be fired if he just won't listen, whereas in OSS land he'll just fork and keep going. If this happens enough times, then AROS will be fragmented and DiscreetFX will have wasted their money. That's why huge megacorps like IBM or Intel, who could just shell out a few billion dollars for Linux, choose to sponsor projects instead.

Investments in KMOS/AMIGA INC(D)that have been documented thus far.

Tapul SA US$1,000,000 (KMOS)
Prokom US$2,000,000

OS4 seems to be the reason for these investments.

@CodeSmith who said Quote:
I suggest you lot look at "constructive criticism" in a dictionary sometime. Just because I argue with someone it doesn't mean I mean them harm.

Sadly a lot of people don't seem to realise that - I think because they have a tendency to group everyone into "good" & "bad" factions (or at other times "red" & "blue", or "us" & "them", or "white" & "black", or "big-endian" & "little-endian").

And that is probably because at one time there was a stupid war over which OS was Teh True Spiritual Amiga OS (tm), which trained a lot of people to think that way. And probably there are a few people who do actually still fit those stereotypes, but jumping to classify someone immediately is not a good thing. (You should be judged by what you say, not what group you ostensibly belong to.)

Sorry, rant over

You think so?

Download Prokom's 2005 annual report and search for Amiga. They seem to me to describing DE/AA rather than OS4.

edit

Is Tapul S.A. a real company or were they just another shell company like KMOS? A quick google didn't reveal any information from outside the Amiga community, so I wondered if they were merely invented to make it look like important things were happening.
Can anyone show otherwise?

Was Tapul just another Kouri company, didn't they wire part of the by back money to Hyperion?

Edit

Having looked over the court docs again it turns out I mixed Tapul up with Tachyon.
