Noel, is Auckland (New Zealand) considered remote... will be there on holiday from the 22nd of October :)Perfect excuse to have a small Amiga gathering? Probably won't have much time to spare as I will be traveling about... a nice thought though :)

You will be checking out my thumbnail sketch of Christchurch?

Check my profile for email address. Email me back immediately if possible, but instead of amigaak2, send to amigaak . In less than 12 hours some surgeons will be carving me up. Should I survive I can expect to have limited mobility again by the time you turn up (driving ban for sure) but there are others here so we should make a point of meeting. Perhaps I can arrange a SAM440ep viewing, using a walkin size TV for the screen. The SAM has been here very secretly for some time. I should be able to email in about 6 days but our AmigaAuckland presi will receive your mail too, hence the address change. He may step in.

Remote is in relation to Italy, Europe, UK, but in terms of mail delivery of OS4.1 boxes, parts of USA are obviously more remote than Auckland NZ.

Noel

@NoelFuller

OK... totally off topic, however... best of luck with the operation and here's my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Plenty of time and strength, I hope, to play with your Amiga from the recovery bed!

WOOOHOOO!!!! Now I MUST get OS4.1! I remember asking if someone could port Celestia to OS4 years ago and being laughed at. I had given up hope that this, one of my favorite pieces of software, would ever come to the Amiga. Does anyone know if this Celestia port works with all the addons for it?

I second that. A very good software. I also hope that the addons will work.

Thanks for the info. I'd really like to know how many SAM boards have been sold so far. It would be nice to know how many new users we get over the coming months.

So, were there any other announcements?

Hans

I watched some movies how the Sam is playing DVD, as far I can tell for me this is good enough.

I hope that Radeon's which are in systems with AmigaOS will be used in their FULL potential. I'm not a expert in hardware but I now that Radeon has a lot of "hardware" decoding capabilities and in comparison to nvidia DVD's looks much nicer on Radeons...

I general "speed" of Sam looks like really good! I hope that PageStream and Hollywood will be working fine :).

@kreciu

The movie i linked above on youtube is running very well on Sam, both on DVD mode and File mode (divx insane quality mode) if you know this encoding type is the higest divx quality.

Consider that OS 4.1 for Sam could be improved. (imho) 30% - 40% more fast.

@AmigaBlitter,
Are you running OS4.1 on your SAM?

Thank you Yo. I bought a kneeling chair for use with my A1 when I became alarmed at what slouching in a normal chair was doing to my spine. It took a little getting used to but now I would not be without. I am therefore quite comfortable while scanning for any substantial reporting of pianetta apart from the one report in this thread and a lot of pictures.

I'm disappointed not to find hard info about the SAM flex but I gather I must wait until December. In particular I want to know that the zigbee option is supported from OS4.1 and what it will cost. Our club will buy the flex when available with the zigbee.

I hope ACube will not be caught in the financial meltdown that is going on. Presumably they will have to raise finance to produce more boards and that is where there may be difficulties quite independent of their business viability.

Noel
