And also!

I like the boot up music!

But to get CD player to work, I had to put Mixer in the wbstartup draw, also I'd have liked the automatic download of cd names, to have been already set up,

I know, want, want, want want!

But why not set up theremote time server time prefences, maybe even an Offical Hyerion one! talking of which I can't seem to see any reference to Amiga Inc. anywhere.... Odd that...

edited to add: I think SWAP is working, if I stick stuff into the Ram: drive it keeps accepting it, and the hard drive starts moving about, it's just I've never actually needed it!

And reading on another thread, about setting the files size to 512, I got JXFS working too, a slighty confusiingly worded manual and my own stoopidness to blame on that one.

No idea about the benifits of it it over SFS2 though...

Which 68k sofware give you problems?

Since I started quitting IBrowse (and letting it clean up the cache then instead of on startup) before shutting off my computer, all of my major MUI applications are quite stable. ImageFX_Lite sometimes freezes my mouse when I quit the program. DPaintV freezes randomly. ImageMaster crashes randomly and when I quit. I know that there are a lot of problem 68k programs with OS4; I just wish they would throw up a Grim Reaper instead of freezing the system. I think I actually got fewer freezes (GR instead) in some of the OS4 prereleases.

7: the onboard graphics card on my µA1 does not have enough memory to run a couple of screens in 32bit colour, I've added a gauge to the title bar, and even at 16 bit graphics having Ibrowse, Workbench with a couple of draws open and OWB all open together and you can see the graphics memory sink worryingly low...

That's really bothers me. I'm using 16 bit screens even with OS4 and run everything on seperate screens. What's the point of the highly touted dragable screens if you can only open one? Is it possible to disable the new graphics features if you want to run multiple screens? I'm colorblind and don't mind square corners. I preordered OS 4.1 before all the discussion of the limit on the number of screens on a µA1 and it's now been shipped. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed. Right now I have PageStream running on one screen, all my Internet apps running on my AWeb screen (including IBrowse), ImageFX_Lite on it's own screen, Photogenics on it's own screen and Dopus4 on it's own screen. I can't imagine running several major multiple window applications on my WorkBench screen at once. It would be total chaos. I guess I won't know until OS 4.1 arrives, but I'm hoping I can work around the graphics memory limitations.

@Xenic

Well you can turn it off, I tend not to now, I just keep an eye on the amount of folders I have open, and it just about stays safe, irritaing but it looks so pretty!!

And having used it most of the weekend, (appart from the time spent messing about with Morphos 2.1! arf!) I would say it it's more stable, polished and generally better than OS 4.0... Oh and OWB is very, very usable now...

HOWEVER!!!!!!! There's no way to put the arrows at the top and bottom of the sliders!!!

ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Well you can in MUI applications, but not system/reaction based applications, AAAAAaaaarrrgh!! That's why it's not looked right all this time, it's not the rounded tops of draws, it's the scroll bars...

I hate having them all the adjusty bits lurking at the bottom....

You don't think I'm over reacting over this do you?

Why would you want to? Good UI design will put them together, so you can make small adjustments up and down without moving the mouse all the way to the other end of the scroll bar. Intuition has been like this since at least 2.04.

@Chris_Y

Because I like it like that. And that's the way it is.

Anyway, I usally just grab hold of the bar and move it up or down and don't use the buttons, I just find more aspectically* pleasing. Also I've been able to change it in every version of AOS4 so far, so I'm at a bit of loss as why remove it?

* and that's a close as I can get to the correct spelling at this time of night.

No it's the other way round : e-uae under OS4.0 and lionstorm ask how e-uae is performing under OS4.1

PS: my copy just arrived this morning thanks to the french (and swiss) dealer Relec. I just need to find some spare time to install it now !! Congrat to everyone involved !!

That was the date on an email they sent to me. My order was about a week earlier. I can't remember exactly.

My copy of OS4.1 arrived today. The package looks like Miss Piggy sat on it. I swear you can see the imprint of cheeks. I always wondered if postal employees do that on purpose when they see a sticker labled Fragile / With Care like this one had on it.

The manual and the CD are fine, but everything else is flatten. Thank goodness AmigaKit packaged it well covered with bubble wrap inside a box covered with bubble wrap inside a shipping envelope made of bubble wrap.

I'll do the install on Saturday.

AOS4.1 has finally made it to Surf City.
Setting it up in this house is the new nightmare.

It doesn't smell like bacon too, does it?

I'm glad to see someone on THIS side of the Atlantic has received it. I'm still waiting on mine, but I put my pre-order in late.

It was wrapped up so well I had to cut the bubble wrap envelope out from around the box.
All but the box are in perfect shape.

Actually no, but I am surprised it doesn't. Although the outer shipping cover had an ugly brown stain on it. Coffee? I don't want to speculate any further.

I've managed to pop out the OS4.1 box, but it still has a dent in the front. The top right corner where you close the flap has a tear in it also. I can live with it.
