I have never had any freeze lately, even under OS 4.0, but I very rarely use 68k software, the only ones are IBrowse and vcdgear, which have never given me any problem. Which 68k sofware give you problems?

| I got the tracking number for my copy of AmigaOS4.1 (I insist on the Amiga part of the name
Didn't get it in time for the weekend but thats my own fault, ordered it this Wednesday at Alinea webshop. Really looking forward to receiving my copy and get it installed. Hope EVERY A1 owner upgrades as we need to show our support now and get the nice new OS.
Hyperion need the money for the trial and when that is won they need to finance ports to new hardware (just me being overly optimistic now) _________________

| What the hell!!!
A PCI graphic card working on the MicroA1. Well partialy at least since not having USB is a major pain and not having DMA too.
I also read about the fix for the XE on this site where someone says that a fixed XE and a PCI graphic card do work as long as you do the fix properly.
So.....what the hell is going on.......is there a possibilty that the micro wasn´t fixed properly.
Is there anyone with access to an XE, micro and knowledge about the fix to check if the micro can get a fix. _________________ AmigaOne-XE G3 OS 4. A4000 PPC A1200 PPC |

Nothing wrong, the first edition was for AmigaOS 4.0 for classic._________________ Stefano Guidetti AmigaOS 4 Translator & Betatester

(nicely!)Double packed parcel was Too big for posty, came with the parcel man. Of course they would have been by now as well.
First feelings on OS4.1?
on my µA1, mixed. Seem to be getting slowdowns and things, I'm trying it with the hardware acceleration off, and see how it goes.
Also it can't see my Jxfs partition, partitionwizard says
Status:Not enough memory available, also my swap partition isn't mounted for some reason. I shall fiddle around with the settings.. _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011 |

My first impression of AmigaOS 4.1 on my AmigaOne wit Radeon 9000Pro and Hardware acceleration. | I am moving this over from a duplicate thread. unimon had this to say about receiving OS4.1:
Quote:
Hallo everyone!
Yesssssssssssss!!! I get my copy of OS4.1 today! I've finished to installed it and I'm gonna to test it really soon!
By the way, i've seen on site of Strohmayer that the new version of OWB2.8 is relaeased!
Well guys (and girls) I'm leaving you here... and I guess you know why uhm?
Thanks to all OS4.1 team and for their job!
Good job boys!
Nic
PS: first thing noticed: it seems that the OS4.1 grabs more memory than the 4.0... so people who have only 256MB Ram on their machine should improve the memory size. I have 512 MB. Before, on system still availabe about 460 MB... now only 380... so, becareful! |

Thanks for the order- we despatched a lot today. Your order is in process right now.
They arrived late in the afternoon at 2.20pm yesterday and we worked extra until 9pm yesterday to pack them (long 15hr day).
We are about half way through the preorders so far.
@Rob

Right, here's a quick run down of wot I tink.
1: I can't use a USB keyboard on Uboot, maybe there's something to turn on, but without a spare PS/2 keyboard, I wouldn't be able to do anything. That's nothing to do with OS4, but I just thought I'd mention it
2: It seems to boot up faster now, espically as It's using DHCP, as I was too lazy to set an IP address, although when setting up the Interweb stuff it did have a nasty looking but harmless error message.
3: SSL and SOjexts and stuff were all there, and ibrowse didn't kick up a stink about missing MUI classes, all of which was nice. Of course give it 2 weeks and it'll be out of date, but what ya goanna' do?
4: I cannot get JXFS or the swap partitions to work. according to partition wizard, not enough memeory for JXFS and swap: is not mounted, I've even read the fine manual about setting up SWAP.
5: Amiupdate, or something similar is not part of the package, or at least I've not found it.
6: It's more stable, and more polished than ever, but to be honest it's not a huge change.
7: the onboard graphics card on my µA1 does not have enough memory to run a couple of screens in 32bit colour, I've added a gauge to the title bar, and even at 16 bit graphics having Ibrowse, Workbench with a couple of draws open and OWB all open together and you can see the graphics memory sink worryingly low...
Would I recommend this to someone who's happy with OS4.0? With an A1 with a graphics card with 128/256/512 meg of ram yes. A MicroA1, possibly not... _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011 |

Lifes too short to make that sort of compomise....
Forgot to mention, Icandy is nice, I love the full transparant dock, but the rounded windows don't appeal to me to be honest..

Yes I know losing the USB sucks, as every thing is USB this days.

Yeh I know what you are saying, I think it makes the windows too big, I guess you can change the look in GUI prefs._________________ http://lifeofliveforit.blogspot.no/ Facebook::LiveForIt Software for AmigaOS |
