| @bitman I had to sacrifice a few things to be able to afford the Sam board.. I just dont think it is worth waiting another month when those money could be spent in other ways. I ordered in november because it said the second batch be in by december and here we are now at batch number 4 and yet no sign of my board. |

So now we can guess there at least 24 boards in a batch. :)
Any advance on board serial number 2470800029 in this batch? _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

Yes but did you have to make payment in full in March 2002? or did you get to wait until April 2003 before paying for your A1?_________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

I didn't pay until 2003 but I would have paid upfront if I had to. I have reserved items from Amiga Kit over the phone without having to pay in advance, although being able to show up on their doorstep and pay in cash may help. |

| I think it has already been mentioned but the Amiga market is incredibly specialised and minute compared to days gone by.
I think the ACube partners are to be congratulated for risking their own money to successfully bring new Amiga hardware to the market in these very difficult times. Being highly specialised the cost associated with small production runs from European hardware manufacturers should not be underestimated. I'm sure ACube who have liked to have ordered larger batches of motherboards but I'm sure margins and cash flow are very tight.

I agree here too. It certainly wouldn't be good if Acube were stuck with several hundred machines for a couple months or more. It's better that they maintain a certain amount of working capitol for future developments such as the soon to be released Sam440 flex. Last edited by Rob on 15-Jan-2009 at 05:30 PM.

My only real problem with the wait was the lack of information. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

I ordered on the 19th of October last year so we are talking a lead time of about 3 months on orders of sam440ep boards from AmigaKit placed last year. |
m3x has stated that ACube's main source of delay is the 16 weeks (=3.7 months) lead time for the Sam440 CPUs.
Given that there was a sudden demand for Sam440s when OS4.1 became available, their initial stocks were quickly sold-out, and then ACube had to wait about 3.7 months for more CPUs (plus a bit more time) before they could supply Sams to AmigaKit/etc. Presumably ACube had a few CPUs spare, plus were able to somehow find sources of a few more CPUs from elsewhere, hence the Sam440s appearing in dribs & drabs since then.Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2009 at 07:25 PM.

| @someone with too much money
Someone recently asked what one would do if one had a few million euros/dollars to spend ("as the King of Amigaworld?").
Perhaps one of the best ideas would be to help HW companies in their efforts to produce AOS capable HW in decent quantities. For example by keeping a stock of parts needed for PPC motherboards and perhaps a few hundred boards as well.
/me dreaming: I hope some millionare someday does something to help computer niches in their efforts to break the axis of evil (wintel monopoly). _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

Aaahhhhh, Poor thomas the man, had to sacrifice some loven from his misses, coz he didnt get her yet another shiny ring for her finger, instead, bought a SAM440EP?
hahahaha, Just kidding.
Seriously though, common PEOPLE, if I have placed an order on something, it sticks. I mean, I already placed the order, and 600euros that one has spent, is not going to do anything as significant or important as getting a new amiga.
Anyway, my 2 cents worth yet again.
@m3c
Please pm me an answer to how many boards have been sold for Amiga related people, I wont spread the word. :) _________________ Courtesy of SAM440Flex & Amiga OS4.1 only Flex is 800mhz A1000 with Classic 520 Amiga OS3.2.1 AmiKit 12 MorphOS PowerBook G4 (which can play youtube vids)
