For some reason, this man didn't get his time in the spot-light like the David Pleasances and Petro Tyschtschenkos of the Amiga-scene who also did try their thing to rescue the Amiga. That mr. B. McE didn't use mr Pentti's money in a way we Amiga users would appreciate is hardly mr Pentti's fault.

A real shame mr Pentti didn't get tied to the 'community' as he probably could have.

To his family and true friends, all I can say is that I wish you all the strength and energy needed to get through this hard times.

Now that Dr. Kouri has died, who will pay for all of Mr. McEwen's frivolous lawsuits?

Where did you get the 2 million USD figure from?

Statements aren't proof, especially if they are made by opposing parties.

But the point is, IF you do not know, as you point out yourself, how come you make a statement about it?

Nevermind, it was a rhetorical question.

Even without understanding the language, this 1996 video shows what a bright and fascinating person Dr. Pentti Kouri was:

Echoes my sentiments. What's the point of investing money unless you have the skills in guaging when a company is acting against the interests of its customers and alienating them? Without us Amiga Inc has no customers and little chance of getting new ones. RIP Pentti. Shame you bought into a marketing scam rather than a working R&D focused IT company

My father just told me that an old friend of his from school has passed. When I asked his name I got little shocked, -he was Pentti Kouri!

I asked about who he was... we talked about him for a while... And I just want to tell you that they went to school in Kemijärvi in Finland.

And yet he did not seem to push for any fundamental change to the firm as chairman in all this time did he? At least not in any tangible way that is visible to us from the outside. It might be a bit unfair to Bill McEwen to infer what you are inferring.

There is no need to anyway. That discussion was simply about an assertion made by someone that apparently did not know the man. It was about that assertion, not about Pentti the man himself. I'm sorry for your father's loss of a friend.

From your link:

Quote:
Because of Kouri’s tarnished reputation, the ministry insisted that the collection must not be called the "Kouri Collection". Last October, in the exhibition at Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, the collection of American modern art belonging to Pentti Kouri was officially called the Kouri Collection for the first time. ”Now I can come to Finland again”, Pentti Kouri had said to his friends with some emotion.

Interesting info I had never heard before.

My heart-felt condolences to Mr. Kouri's family. That's too young an age to pass on.

-And it is shameful and disappointing, though not surprising, that Amiga, Inc.'s detractors have taken this as an opportunity to bash Bill McEwen and those who believed in him.

I'd venture to opine that Mr. Kouri was far from "misguided" by Bill McEwen regarding Amiga, Inc. and their plans and situation. To the contrary, I'd say he knew more about such things than what has been shared on Internet message boards.

My thoughts are with Kouri and his family!

Who takes over from Pentti? Well, maybe Pekka:

@Quixote

Again, I express sympathy for the loss to the family involved but Amiga Inc's single biggest bankable value to an investor is surely the financial benefits of making Amiga Os4.x a sucess and do it's upmost to achieve that end! Not to falsify the ability/intention of sponsoring the Kent Event Centre and release third rate mobile games and accesories for Windows Pocket PCs!!!

Pentti Kouri is a guilty as Bill by not shifting the emphasis from attempting to destroy Hyperion to 'achieving a constructive partnership' to get OS4.x done and out the door on 'affordable' hardware - iBooks, PS3 and Mac Mini to begin with, followed by Sam440EP style 'bundled' systems!

I don't know who Pentti Kouri was as a man, but he will sadly be remembered on the same page of Amiga's history as Irvine Gould and Medhi Ali, rather than Dave Haynie and the team of dentist investors who gave Amiga a fighting chance at the very beginning
