Good luck with your sales. BTW, your iMica is not the first computer to offer AROS natively installed it. My corp, Black Troll Technology Corporation (now renamed to Nostromo Inc) was the first with it's Edge LE system. That is the reason why nForce2 chipset was supported.

Then why not buy a sunPCI Card and write a driver for it ? |

| Keen. Throwing a Catweasel Mk4 (with low-profile backplate) in there instead would be fun. AROS support for the Catweasel anyone? EDIT: (Yeah, that's a bit shortsighted. Lots of other things need to get AROS up to speed. Still, it would up the cool factor IMHO.) Last edited by Trev on 28-Feb-2009 at 05:47 PM.

After a quick search I could not find a suitable card. They seem to have longer PCI connector (64bit?).
And SAM would need 3.3v version.
.... thinking ....
Better just port siamese system (or make a new SW) to use SAM & the second 100Mbit ethernet connector. Then use mini-itx + Core2 or Atom motherboard in the same case of the SAM.
For more powerfull needs a gigabit ethernet card could be used to connect to the x86 slave.
...
But I better start by writing "helloworld" app for AOS4 first.
A littlebit related: http://hdrlab.org.nz/a-linux-server-for-software-developers/
So, the same x86 slave could help in the compiling, rendering, mpeg4 encoding & decoding, digital TV PVR, EUAE, etc....
Clustering, I still vote for it as the best roadmap to gain more horzepower for our miggies.... _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

Heh sorry for the first one comment then. Again this project is aiming to push the Aros platform further with new drivers. I hope it will get some interest in the Amiga platform again and it does run really well.
Thanks for positive comments to you all.
Siamese System was a big part of my life and maybe we could reserect it again later.

| Several Linux / BSD users had problems with Intel Atom Mini ITX Motherboards because of ACPI and network chipset. It is impossible to use Linux/BSD with ACPI on this board. Sometimes the LAN chipset work, but if user reboot the board, it will fail. The LAN chipset is often detected as wrong chipset. AFAIK There is no 100% working Linux driver for LAN Chipset Realtek 8102EL. Is there a similar problem with AROS? What is the explanation about "driver is not available"? When will this driver be available? Who will write it? Thx.

| That's quite cute, but I have questions!
How much memory? Does it have a fan? What Graphics card? Got any more pics? What connectors does it have USB? PS/2? How does it differ from an off the shelf Intel Atom package? Assuinng such things excist.. Why use Intel? They're EVIL I TELL YA EVILLL!!!! (that was the 'Pancakes' question, feel free just to ignore it)
Good luck with it anyway! But running an Amiga OS(s) I can't see the you tube videos, any danger of a direct download? Last edited by Stephen_Robinson on 02-Mar-2009 at 10:38 PM.

I had one of the Aros development team write a driver for the on board 8168 chip and I gave hime a board and sound card. System is fully working, Video, SOund and network.

So the onboard sound works now? Or is it still needing a sound blaster card? Either way, its good news to here you're pushing iMica "officially" now. Now get busy on a wireless upgrade . . . _________________ Avatar babe - Monica Bellucci. |

This is an Intel x86 board and I want to use various x86 OS on this board. Unfortunately some new boards ARE NOT compatible with Linux / BSD.
I want to use multiple boot with tihs board: AROS, Windows XP, Linux, and BSD, from multiple partitions on a single hard disk. Is this possible? Is there any Linux and BSD distro standard LIVE CD that fully support this board, especially the LAN Chipset?
Thank you.

I take your points and I have noticed issues with Linux when I tried to install Ubuntu. I did think that was why Linux was so good that there were drivers for everything. Just kidding but Aros gets slated for that reason and we have a tiny fraction of the Linux world developer network.
However, I will over time build multiOS systems as you will notice on my site that is what I try to do. For now, it is Aros or Windows XP/Vista, I am not a Linux buff so cannot help with that, although I have been using Ubuntu which is very nice and would make a good match, Ubuntu and Aros.

| lovely idea, but useless IMO.
playing around with Aros never kept me for more than 10 mins. the OS is great, the effort is appreciated, it's a great lab, but there is almost nothing to do with Aros. OWB ? fine, but that's pretty much everything you can do on Aros, surf the web without flash and anything a modern browser offers. Too few apps.

Couldn't that be said about every current NG Amiga OS?
I don't think that AOS or MorphOs offer that much more than AROS currently, compared to the "big Three" OS'es.
It's true that AROS has currently less Applications than those, but it has the advantage of running on fast CPUs. Last edited by steril606 on 04-Mar-2009 at 02:48 PM.

That is quite the same reason I probably never will invest 1000 Euros into the alternatives either. Why pay thousands of euros and not much more software to exists there either. I rather put my money into bounties than hardware startup companies. I think AROS is the only sane way forward. _________________ AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. I know it sounds stupid, but the main thing that puts me off of AROS is the mascot.
It's made a lot of people outside of the Amiga communities think that "Amiga users = Furries". I've often had to explain that AROS is not Amiga OS for this very reason. The reason I bring it up is that I just had to explain it to someone a moment ago.
I know it's ridiculous, and that there's nothing wrong with AROS, but that's my real world experience and it's annoying. Last edited by Gleng on 04-Mar-2009 at 04:18 PM.

I must agree even if I have a cat as my avatar. I guess I just have accepted the fact. On the other hand I think Anubis has a very nice "logo" or mascot.
PS. I don't like the linux penguin either.
