Hi,

New version of OWB avaible : 3.9.

The bug in the slowdown of input text seems solved (to me) but i've tried to open new tab and it crashes...

So, is it better than the 3.8... we will c it. Anyway, thanks Joerg.

Nic

@all

It seems that OWB3.9 freezes my system like before... it's a shame. Back on 3.7

@unimon

OWB 3.9 ok here so far. Knock on wood. I got rid of the libexpat.so file that came with the latest version of expat.library and restored my original libexpat.so file.

It's labeled as v3.8 on OS4 Depot, but it is the 3.9 version.

Well I've managed to crash it once, with a large .gif file that also crashed iBrowse.

Still seems to have the problem of lots of tabs stretching out so the end ones become unreadable, and it seems to be using up my memory like no ones business, like I'm down to 150mb *and I've only got one tab open. I think it may be caching all my old web pages or something.

But other that that's it seems stable and well, the best Amiga Browser for the AOS4.x eva.

* now 85 and dropping...80, 72..62... oh dear...

Forgot to mention it now seems to rememeber logged in details 3.8 didn't.

But if I just have this image open, I can see my free memory dropping, I think it's gif files that's doing it..

I can confirm that. And sometimes CPU usage is 100% without any visible reason.

@Tomppeli

look at it now, and look how your memory is dropping like a stone, it's that gif I posted, it's cursed I tell's ya CURSED!

Either that or these something wrong with the .gif datatype.

Yep, also confirming, was fine until that little guy (anim gif) showed on the screen, then mem usage too off like a rocket (like 50MB+ and growing)

Yikes! That was scarry. I watched my free memory drop like a rock to about 800, 000 bytes and then disk drive activity and the mouse pointer froze. Not sure, but I think the SWAP was kicking in.

CTRL ALT ALT boot to recover.

Ouch. That's pretty bad. Does the memory usage ever level off? Or does it keep on going?

Tell ya in a minute. With WB and wookie, nothing else (besides a few commodities) loaded, mem usage (title bar of WB), was showing 157MB used out of 512MB.

Launchign OWB with home page, shows usage up to 187MB.

Enter thread, wait..at > 200MB, climbing, will see were it goes, but it seems noticeable on the anim gif.

Hmm. It may just be the new memory model, sure seems 'aggressive' though. Right now it's at 285MB of ram used. Will let it sit overnight, on the same page, and see what happens.

Had it happen to me, memory was holding steady for over an hour, 3 tabs open, set one to show gif anims & memory usage just took off until the system froze. I was starting to think you guys were nuts, up until then.

@Stephen_Robinson

It would be a good idea if you could submit a bugreport at http://bugs.os4depot.net with a link to that gif file, etc.

I had a look, but couldn't see how to contribute so I didn't bother.

294MB of used RAM after sitting overnight. May still be memory model and not a bug, at least in my case. Will see after work if any significant change.

It's not necessarily any certain gif anim causing this. (I don't have time to test this more right now.)
