Just give me a few months, will you?
Pegasos release was not meant to happen either.

But if you MEAN it (I guess you do, pal ), when MorphOS comes, I will wait a month or two, check my credit card and make a decision then.

I voted MAYBE; it would be the 800 mHz version, already have video card, and I think, correct memory(512).Numerous older PC cases with power supplies ,...,only lack MONEY for SAM board.

Sam Flex looks like better long-term solution than overpaying for used PPC accelerator cards.(I stop bidding on those when price reaches 50-60% of a NEW Sam.

Let' me see,..if I eat only the cheap soup four days a week, don't burn my candles more than an hour ,then I can afford a really nice cloak.....errrrr I mean a really nice Sam!

OK, cool. Thanks for clearing that up.

I really wonder why people still ask you that question. I mean, surely saying it categorically once (some months/years ago) is enough?

It's worth asking again now, though. There used to be no hope of a Pegasos version either.

I try to predict future from time to time and I often turn to be right
But seriously no one can forbid me having a hope, no matter how much pointless it is...

Another issue is how much detailed plans you are allowed to disclose here, some things must stay confidential which is obvious in a business world...

Thats too bad. All that quality PPC hardware getting ignored. To bad, doesn't look like OS4 is in my future any time soon then. Oh well . . .

Well as I said, I think I will get Sam eventually, regardless of the performance/price ratio. But again, should any unplanned and extraordinary circumstances occur...

BTW I do respect those people from Hyperion / Acube crew. They make stuff which is fun for us. They made some investments. They got sales plans they must stick to. They have to earn the money on that, not loose it. If it fails, check out the remarkable dialog from Mullholand Drv:

Quote:

Mr. Roque: Then...
Robert Smith: Then that means we should...
[pause]
Mr. Roque: Yes?
Robert Smith: Shut everything down.
[pause]
Robert Smith: Is that something that...
[pause]
Robert Smith: You want us to shut everything down?
[pause]
Robert Smith: Then we'll shut everything down.

Maybe the same reason is when someone must have asked the question about other PPC machines some time ago and he turned to be right after all.

What's so bad in asking questions? Some people have a hope for low-cost Amiga on request you know... You cannot blame people for having hope here. Heavens, no!

I voted maybe. First I need to find some way to rationalize paying $534 for an 800 MHz. motherboard.

If I had the money, I'd definitely consider an 800 MHz board. As-is, I don't, and my 933 MHz A1-G4 is working quite nicely.

With such a small price difference between the two, I expect that they will have very few sales of the 667 MHz units.

@Hans

Once I have bought my 1080p TV and taken kids on holiday I might, even though people may be surprised.

Because I wrote an SAMflex-article for "Amiga Future" I own a SAMflex (667Mhz) with a very low serial-number since February...

Nice board!

Yes, I'll buy a Sam440ep-flex of 800MHZ but for this motherboard with this high speed we need programs and games that of true use it, not for games 2D, because the classic games from 68K goes very fast.

There are reasons for this, which I won't go into. Suffice to say that it will not happen.

I'm saying maybe. Despite my dismissive attitude towards OS4 at the moment, the only way to keep Rogue and company working on and improving the product is for folks like me to put up the money.... I know that once I have the software in hand, though, I'll want to get it running on my PS3, and I have too many time-sucking hobbies as it is!

Yes, once I have a job.. But not until then.

I have ALWAYS built my own machines, but I'll admit right now I'd love to see the flex board in the smallest possible case that includes a solid state HD and a fanless power supply.

THAT would be a bulletproof package for a lot of different applications. No moving parts, no fan failures or risk of "bumping" the HD.
I can think of a few places I'd like to embed a box like that.

Something to look forward to, for sure.

LyleHaze

[edit] towards an idea, how about a genlock/overlay device for this thing, especially if it works with HDMI I/O..

Since HDMI is digital, we should be able to create an overlay device with ZERO image degradation. Talk about re-opening classic Amiga applications!

What could you build with a toy like that?

That's right, if people keep buying SAMS they will improve the breed (both HW & SW). I'd buy one today if I wasn't so skint

Or you could sell your existing Sam and then you only have to spend a bit more to get a Flex.

I'm going to give IcAros a try. If it's as good as it looks, I don't think I'll bother about OS4 at all.

After all, I can run AROS on my old computer, which otherwise does nothing but keep the door open, and which is 3 times as fast as Sam.

Can the end user overclock it further with 80 watt TDP rated cooler? For example, 900Mhz or 1000Mhz.
