@ZeroG

Yeap. I have turned it on, but I didn't see any speed increment.

@walkero

Also slow on Sam 667ep playing DVDs, whilst DvPlayer is almost smooth.

@afxgroup

Had to switch to SDL mode in the past for some video clips to be able to see the picture.
This no longer seems to be the case.

Very welcome development, much appreciated.

Cheers.

@all

I'm ashamed it took this long for me to realize this version has real media support for RV30 and RV40. lol.

It does? Then why do I get this output:

Delete or move codecs.conf file from subdirectory "conf".

Great, it works!

So now only this one left then:
Requested video codec family [indeo4] (vfm=vfw) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Requested video codec family [indeo4xa] (vfm=xanim) not available.
Enable it at compilation.

None of the IV are compiled in afaik.
I've tested IV3/4/5, which all work properly in FroggerNG V2.05.
IV3.2 internal codec in MPlayer is borked, much like the internal one in the last version of Frogger. I know it appears to play...but in Frogger it has smooth frame-by-frame playback whilst in MPlayer and later versions of Frogger there are numerous issues including some long "still" sections between movement. (sorry, I don't know how else to describe it, but it is well noted in docs)

Edit: Bah. wrote IV3.1 when it's IV3.2

I think the list of supported extensions must be changed. mkv can be added because I just tested a 720p mkv with it and it worked. Allthough a 1 GHz G4 is not fast enough to ensure smooth playback it does work.

From: I'm actually flying into a bug!

There are still videos that don't work with overlay (nobody deleted them all): those with 8-bit pixels / palette. But -vo sdl seems to be broken in this version.

@walkero

Have you tried a R0 DVD? I have seen better results on MOS for an NTSC anime disc that isn't encrypted, but perhaps the data rate is also rather low (15 fps?).

Tried to play a simple AVI file (actually a music video clip), but with no luck.

Running MPlayer from CLI I got a message that "My machine is TOO SLOW to play this!", even I have a Flex at 800MHz!!!

I can hear the audio playing (not quite good), and the video output is really a mess.

Only with the option -lavdopts etc I can see normal video output, but I don't think that's normal.

Any suggestions?

What codec is this and what resolution is the video?

You can certainly try -framedrop argument to attempt to improve output.

Detected NON-INTERLEAVED AVI file format.
VIDEO: [XVID] 1000x568 24bpp 25.000 fps 2287.2 kbps (279.2 kbyte/s)

hope that helps.

@Phantom

That would crawl on my Micro.

Nevertheless, be sure you are using any argument that might speed up playback.

Oh...and you're not using sdl (slower) for playback I trust?

Also, this thread might offer some assistance:
"Your system is too SLOW to play this!"

The thread is from March, so it's a couple of MPlayer versions ago, but still relevant.

No, I don't use SDL for playback. I downloaded a Dirty Preview version, and in SAM plays very well, although the version is quite old. Maybe the new releases aren't entirely compatible on SAM, but only in AmigaOne? If it's true, then it's too bad to stuck with a very old release.

Just a note that I tried 10 different music video clips and they all played normally (but I used always the -lavdopts lowres=1:fast command).

Post #62 would seem to indicate the latest version is ok on SAM.
Unless there's a difference in abilities based on the SAM models. Dunno.

You might want to PM/network with the other SAM owners, if they don't post or join irc channel #SAM.
