@Valiant

Hi, i had this same problem when i at first extracted the runinuae_r1.lha in to sys:utilities, this path is the installation path for runinuae.
So after i extracted the runinuae_r1.lha to a different location and installed it from there i did not had this problem anymore.

This sounds great!

Could anyone make a video to show how it works?

Thanks!

@Ande
Why would you extract runinuae_r1.lha to sys:utilities ? I thought most people would do it to RAM...

Hmmm, maybe this problem is nothing to do with the DiskImageGUI commodity then. Can you please confirm that you do not have DiskImageGUI running (automatically)?

Can those getting this problem *please* report information about their system, so maybe I can see a common factor. For example:
* Which version of OS4? (4.0 or 4.1)
* Do you already have DiskImage installed? (And which version if you know it.)
* Which version of Amiga Forever are you using?
* What programs are in your WbStartup drawer?
* Which machine is OS4 running on?

@ChrisH

RunInUAE seems to work fine here on my sam. Thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, I don't know how to get my usb-mouse/usb-joypad to work?

From AmigaForever 2006, I tried "Battle Sqadron" where u can choose between Joystick and mouse but none of both works. There seem to be some keyboard config, because i accidently could control the weapons.

Mouse and Joypad are mapped with AmigaInput to the Lowlevel-Library-Emulation (port 0: mouse, port 1: joypad). However, this does not seem to work. Do I have to change somehow the default .uaerc-RunInUae-config?

Thanks a lot,

nexus

@ChrisH

So far i have not had any problem with RuninUAE, during the weekend i have played a lot of different games(adf:s) and after the game i have always quit with ctrl-alt-q, and i have not got any system crashes at all.
Very nice program ChrisH, thank you.

It seems that the link provided in the first post is down and unreachable ATM. I have tried to download RunInUAE either using my  ìA1 or  my OSX SNOW Macbook but no result so far. Hopefully the page will be up and running again pretty soon.

EDIT: Problem seems to be fixed. Downloading rigth now and will try later. Thanks a bunch!!

Mouse control SHOULD work in E-UAE, unless you changed the settings! Your ".uaerc" file should contain this line:
Quote:
joyport0=mouse

Joystick is currently mapped to the keyboard, because E-UAE does not allow keyboard + real joystick simulatenously. Open the ".uaerc" file, and look for these lines:
Quote:
joyport1=kbd2
#joyport1=joy1

Put a # before the first line, and remove the # from the second line. Now save & restart E-UAE. This will make E-UAE's joystick use Lowlevel-Library-Emulation Port 1, as you wanted!

Please note that the ".uaerc" file is always used by RunInUAE, while the ".uaerc_RunInUAE" file is ONLY used for RunInUAE's Workbench mode. This second file overrides any settings in the first file, and should only be used for Workbench3.1-specific stuff. So if you added any joyport lines to the second file, then please remove them!

Apart from the last line, that is pretty normal. Are you seeing Workbench 3.1 appear in E-UAE? Did you notice any error messages when installing RunInUAE?

I can confirm that when I first installed it, I didn't have the commodity active. Just to be sure I tried installing again with the commodity active, but I got the same exact error.

Edit:

This is on an OS4.1 machine.

No error messages on install.
I see Amiga Dos.
Behind this, a blank screen behind apart from the bar at the top which says Workbench.

It sounds like Workbench3.1 was not installed correctly (or at all). Do you know where you told it to install Workbench3.1? Can you check to see what files (if any) there are there?

BTW, which version of Amiga Forever did you use during installation (if any) ?

Tried installing 3.9 over it is as well.

@ChrisH

thanks! Now it works fine
The Joystick emulation of EUAE seems not to be perfect, though. In "Battle Sqadron" you can fire a special weapon by rotating the joystick like mad. It doesnt work with my joypad
Neverthelesse, RunInUAE is a cool peace of software. Now, i have played AmigaForever 2006's games for the very first time

A short note
Harddisk installed games like "another world" do not work by double-clicking or moving the game-icon on the AmiDock-icon. The screen wents black and nothing happens. However, after CTRL-ALT-R, the emulated Workbench is booted and then u can click on the the another-world-icon within the emulated workbench and then it works!

However, Sam440ep 667Mhz seems to be too slow for another world. There's some anoying sprite-flickering. Have to test it with my Peg2

Thanks a lot!

nexus

P.S: joystick emultion works fine also with my joypad. One have to turn the joystick just in the right direction It's really nice to play old games also on AmigaOS4 now

Ah, well that explains your problem then! Without OS3.x installed (ideally OS3.1) it cannot boot Workbench. Installing OS3.9 over it *should* work, but is untested - and since Workbench is not booting for you, we can probably deduce it didn't work!

I guess what I need to do is create a "slimline" installation for those without Amiga Forever, although it will probably only work with WHDLoad/JST games (due to missing OS3.x files). EDIT: I tried to do it, but could not get it to work (only the first virtual partition was mounted).

I have, for the occasion, install EUAE for the first time and runinUAE and try to load some whdload located on another partition.

double-click on a whdload installed game:

E-UAE 0.8.29-WIP4
Build date: Mar 27 2007 22:45:15
SDLGFX: Initialized.
SDLGFX: Using SDL version 1.2.11.

SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 1680x1050.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 1280x1024.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 1440x900.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 1024x768.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 1280x720.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 800x600.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 640x480.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 320x256.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 320x240.
SDLGFX: Found screenmode: 320x200.
Found 0 joystick(s)
Found amiga raw keyboard mapping
Using raw keymap
Opening cfgfile '.uaerc'...okay.

and here I have a Grim reaper from euae

Could I say that I have never managed to use euae on my SAM untill now....

Here is your problem:
Quote:
E-UAE 0.8.29-WIP4

You need to install E-UAE v0.8.28, as mentioned in the manual. Someone else has problems with v0.8.29 as well, but I have not investigated yet. You can have both versions of E-UAE installed (in different folders), and tell RunInUAE installer to use v0.8.28.
